Darn. I hate to say this, but after Gerrard netted the third and made it 3-1, I turned it off. (Didn't want to tie up the phone line) I was both pleasantly surprised and saddened when I found out that Villa had equalized, but unfortunately fallen to the late winner in injury time.

This looked like Villa's best route into Europe, as they've looked very mediocre in the league. They currently stand 15th. That's not going to get the job done. Another disappointment in a season full og them. Here's hoping that we can pick it up against Chelsea on the weekend and maybe make another run through the Cup starting against Blackburn in January.

Rats.

Doesn't the cup winner's spot into the UEFA Cup go to the FA Cup winner, not the League Cup winner?

SEMIFINAL, SECOND LEG

Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United (AET)
LIVERPOOL advance, 3-2 on aggregate

An early goal from El Hadji Diouf sent the Reds on the way to Cardiff, and Michael Owen added one in extra time for good measure.

Liverpool will face the winner of:

Blackburn Rovers v. Manchester United - Tomorrow night

The first leg was a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Looks like a Liverpool-Man U final, Man U leading the second leg 3-1 at the moment.

I think 1987 was the last time two of the top teams met in the final. Arsenal 2 Liverpool 1 if I remember correctly.

I apologize if the following question has already been addressed. If Liverpool loses tomorrow and Arsenal ends up playing in the Champions League this fall (as expected), will Liverpool be given the spot for the UEFA Cup that is reserved for the Worthington Cup winner?
