Except the Manhattanites did not get the memo.
I live in Manhattan; I got the memo in '96. I've held a season ticket ever since.
Typical New Jersey rush to judgment on your part? ;)

Why did they ever get out of Florida? I remember the Miami Fusion was pretty good, and Tampa Bay was good in the first few seasons, but bad in their last seasons. Was it becasuse of fan support?
Tampa: While fan support is the official excuse, it was really Glazer (NFL Bucs owner). He wanted something ridiculous like 3/4 of all the money from each home game. There was no way to get a reasonable deal with him and nowhere else to go. There has been talk of possible stadiums in two locations:
One around 30,000 seats to be shared with the University of South Florida football team. Another is a regional sports complex topped off with a 20,000 seater in a Hispanic neighborhood in the south end of the county.

This topic has been covered ad nauseum on the onion bag soccer shop boards.
NY/NJ who cares? At this point we are all one. Except the Manhattanites did not get the memo.
In New york, even the yankees will draw peanuts if they don't win so what makes the Metrostars any better. It annoy's me to no end that they have the nerve to wine about not getting ink in Ny, all the while they get worse and worse every year. Maybe if they focused some of that energy on building a team that could at least qualify for an MLS cup they would be the "toast of the town."
By the way, go Metrostars :)

I still think Orlando would be a great place for a Soccer team. They hosted World Cup when it was here, and the UCF Knights are moving out of the Citrus Bowl so it could be remodeled for soccer. If we can't get MLS back into Florida I guess I would have to settle for a team in Atlanta. It's tough being a big MLS fan when none of the teams/games are close enough to go see...

I've been to matches in the Citrus Bowl. It's too big to have a good atmosphere and the amenities compare to a HS stadium.

What are Rochester's current ticket prices compared to MLS teams? Would there be a rise in prices if Rochester were to join MLS? Would that coincide with a subsequent decline in attendance?
When MLS was first starting and looking for cities, I remember reports of Tulsa, Okla., selling the required 10,000 season tickets.
Considering Tulsa has an NASL history, and MLS claimed at the time they were looking for markets that didn't have any other pro sports teams (which is why they went to Columbus and ... and ... and ... I guess no other pro teams was actually not an attraction), might Tulsa draw better than, say, Kansas City?
I know Tulsa isn't currently on the radar. But I'm just wondering.
Strangely enough, Tulsa is on the radar. 2 recent front page articles in the Tulsa World...
"Tulsa is again one of several cities being considered for a Major League Soccer team, Mayor Bill LaFortune confirmed Thursday. The Tulsa World has learned that a national sports agency that owns a franchise is interested in bringing a team to Tulsa."
An unnamed group's proposal to include a medium-size soccer stadium in the latest plans for downtown Tulsa's East Village district, though, fits a trend for sports stadiums, especially those used primarily by Major League Soccer teams.
Strange also you should mention KC. I have the feeling the out of town group that may be interested in buying the team from Hunt are from Tulsa. The timing of the Tulsa World articles indicate that Hunt's probably using them to leverage the deal for Johnson County soccer stadium... the team could play at Skelly Stadium until a SSS gets built.
If KC is still in limbo next year, that gives the Tulsa group another year to get their "stadium" house in order. Or Tulsa could potentially come in as an expansion team with Toronto.

I would love to have an MLS team somewhere in the South-east. Right now, the closest MLS team to me is D.C. (9 hours away).
I vote Charlotte (wishful thinking).

Well the other obvious place to play in Orlando is the Wide World of Sports out at Disney... Only problem is it would be a real "mickey Mouse" operation:D

No facilities. I believe the biggest seating area holds a couple hundred. Maybe if they push back a fence they could get a few thousand, but any more would require losing fields. Not much room to include a full stadium with the existing facilities. There's open land, but it would be too far from everything else.

I say Rochester... they have a following and can play against MLS teams... They should be the ones next in line to Join the mls... if there were a 2nd division and we had relegation and promotion... they would be in MLS for sure.

I almost forgot about it :)
Houston changed their name to: Houston Dynamo .
And not be left behind in the energy department ,the new owners of the MetroStars renamed the team after their energy drink: The Red Bull .

Seattle. It's cold, it's wet, it would be like watching an EPL match. :D
Sorry, but Chicago is much colder than Seattle. Today - Seattle +52 degrees, Chicago -6 degrees
