What are Rochester's current ticket prices compared to MLS teams? Would there be a rise in prices if Rochester were to join MLS? Would that coincide with a subsequent decline in attendance?
When MLS was first starting and looking for cities, I remember reports of Tulsa, Okla., selling the required 10,000 season tickets.
Considering Tulsa has an NASL history, and MLS claimed at the time they were looking for markets that didn't have any other pro sports teams (which is why they went to Columbus and ... and ... and ... I guess no other pro teams was actually not an attraction), might Tulsa draw better than, say, Kansas City?
I know Tulsa isn't currently on the radar. But I'm just wondering.

Head over to the expansion forum under "Oklahoma" - you'll find some info. It pretty much isn't going to happen any time soon.

Vancouver BC Canada is a logical next step as it is THE hotbed of Soccer in Canada.

I hear alot of noise about getting teams in Canada, what is stopping Canada from putting their own league in place?

I'm not sure a team in Canada would be such a good idea. I still dont quite understand the MLS' rationale behind Toronto. I guess the key word was soccer specific stadium. whatever. It's probably largely a stigma though. Canadian dollars being weaker than the US. It becomes tougher when pretty much the rest of the league runs in US dollars. And I'm sure most American players wouldnt want to be paid in Canadian dollars. I mean, if we look at American leagues and their expansion in the Canada, well, it hasnt faired too well. The Grizzlies are an obvious example. They had a new arena too in GM place, so I'm not so sure...and they were never any good. And the Expos left, although I dont know why a team ended up in Montreal in the first place. And, we've seen several small-market Canadian hockey teams leave in Winnipeg and Quebec. And there have been rumors of Calgary leaving, although those have disappeared in the past 3 years. Really, the only expansion team in recent memory that has had any success in Canada are the Ottawa Senators. Ultimately, I think these teams can be successful from a fan perspective, although you always have perennial losers like the Raptors (who had maybe 3 good seasons with VC). I guess what it boils down to is the financial factor. Owners want to make money. I dont know if they really can in Canada. If I were an owner, I'd probably want to start a team in the US instead. Although I guess the one benefit is that it does cost less to run an MLS team than a hockey or basketball team. But we'll see.
As for other expansion areas, I still think we will see another team in Miami. Seattle, Phoenix, and Portland are some other good options.

Forget about expanding MLS, accross the board the level of play needs to be elevated. When an "All Star" select team travels abroad and gets shut out 5-0 to a very average Real Madrid side, you have to look at improving the product. With FIFA getting behind the Toyota Cup by declaring it the World Club Championships, there should be more emphasis on raising the level of play so that we can play with the best in the world. In 10 years MLS hasn't stopped the exodus of our best players to Europe. There are improvements in facilities with new stadiums opening each year, so teams aren't sharing facilities with Football teams and having to play on poor surfaces like Gillette Stadium in late season, these stadiums aren't improving our facilities with an eye toward hosting international events. MLS needs to open up the pocketbook, go out and get the talent and put a better product on the field. Binging the Toyota Cup to the US should be thier priority not expanding the league.

Houston should have a team and NYC should get a team. A good rivalry could be created between the Metros and a New York team.

You have a team across the river that you have failed to support for years.
Most of us can't even say we have a team remotely that close.

I don't live in New York, but I can tell you that having been to Giants Stadium, it doesn't feel like New York. And I can understand why a New Yorker wouldn't consider that team their own.

Houston ,Tx for sure !
The Earthquakes are moving there for next season.
JOSE, Calif. (AP) - The San Jose Earthquakes are moving to Houston.
Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber said Thursday the team's owners were attracted by the chance to play in front of an ethnically diverse population willing to support a soccer team.
The biggest casualty of the Earthquakes move to Houston will be the loss of the best rivalry in MLS — the Quakes against hated rivals L.A. Galaxy. (Victor Decolongon/Staff / Getty Images)
"We've always believed that the city has great potential to be a soccer market," Garber said. "We're excited about what our opportunities are there

http://www.sportsattic.com/otfba/images/nflhelmets/NFL_Giants.jpgNew Yorkers root for the Giants and the Jets because both of them used to actually play in New York.
If you start an MLS team in New Jersey you cant just slap the name New York on it. It would not be ours.
Why do you think most Metrostars fans are from New Jersey? Because the club has done nothing to establish a fanbase in New York.

This topic has been covered ad nauseum on the onion bag soccer shop boards.
NY/NJ who cares? At this point we are all one. Except the Manhattanites did not get the memo.
