I think the best simpsons episodes are more brillant than the best family guy episodes. That being said, I think the Simpsons hit a wall over say the last five years and on average the family guys episodes are funnier.

Only family guy has made me spray my tea all over the dog so i'll go with that. Also it has more quoteable lines such as the one in my signature.
Plus Family Guy is more of a clut thing in britian due to the fact it was never shown on normal telly.

Simpsons is way better overall. So many classic lines and shows.

In its prime, the Simpsons was funnier....but I agree with those saying that over the last few years it hasn't been as good.

The Simpsons jumped the shark several years ago. But at its peak, it was far more clever than Family Guy could ever hope to be. Family Guy does far more with in your face offense that's funny but doesn't rise to the level of comedy the Simpsons had.

umm...i have to go with the simpsons for longevity. also now that i see some of the older episodes at an older age, i realize how clever they were.

The simpson is better but Family Guy is WWAAYY funnier but that is just my type of humor and I think they are hard to compare because I think they appeal to different audiences

I love how TFG pulls out this obscure commercials or reenactments of scenes from movies and such. The Kool Aid Guy with the breaking of the wall into the court, "OH YEAH!!!!" Then slowly backs away. Or them pulling Chris into the A-ha video and him breaking the wall into the grocery store and they ask where he was and he screams i don't know....
The Simpsons are a great show, I love them, but they are on a downhill slide now. Still funny, but it just isn't the same.

Simpsons, all the way. Especiallyt he older seasons, where humor and social commentary were more subtle.

The Simpsons at its peak was the best, but currently Family Guy takes the honor.
