Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson has quite suprisingly joined Giovanni Trapattoni’s Stuggart, this Saturday.
The former Milan striker was expected to join Benfica, but with a quick 7 million Euro offer the Bundesliga outfit secured themselves the services of one of Denmark’s best players.

Tomasson is set to sign a four year deal after he passes his medical.

Stuttgart coach Giovanni Trapattoni, who led Benfica to a Portughese league title last season, had this to say after the news was announced: "It is great for us to have signed such a top player, he will help us to great things."

There's already a bunch of comments on this in the VfB thread.

Great eh? :)

Even better that Trap snatched him from his ex-side. Sporting was always my favorite of the Lisbon sides :)

Tomasson will be a great addition to that club...
Say, he wasn't getting regular playing(starting) time at Milan was he?

He got quite alot of playing time, though Crespo was a starter in the big games and Tomasson didn't like that i don't think.

as part of a good omen, i must add that the last time tomasson was a regular starter for Milan was when they won the Serie A in 03/04

Cacau and Tomasson upfront is very impressive.

I hope Trapattoni is still planning on making an addition to the midfield. Tomasson is a finisher, and he'll need someone to set up the plays for him.

The more I read about Zvonimir Vukic, the more attractive he sounds. He appears to be talented and shouldn't be too expensive. I would think he'd view the Bundesliga as a step up from playing in the Ukraine. Also, he would fit with Stuttgart's tradition of having Eastern European playmakers.

Of course he didn't like not being a regular, but as far as I know, he never complained about it and didn't want to leave Milan. But then Milan signed Vieri and Gilardino and told Tomasson that he wasn't needed anymore.

It will be interesting to see if he will be a succes i Germany.
