Who do you think should be wearing the captains armband?

David Beckham, he's still a inperational captain to England, if not him then Sol Campbell or John Terry who ever plays out of them too.

Gary Neville

He is vocal and a leader on the park.

If Gerrard could perform for England the way he does for Liverpool then I would say him. As it is I have gone for Terry, who I think should be the main partner with Ferdinand.

JT gets my vote if he plays, but you can bet your bottom dollar it will be Poshboy, unless he spends next season bench-warming :(

It's true and others agreed the last time we discussed the issue of England's captain.

First Captain: Beckham, always Beckham.
Second Captain: Stevie Gerrard.
First Captain: John Terry.

It should be Terry. Beckham is the type that would lead by example (he isn't exactly vocal!!) so when he has a bad performance (and that is becoming more frequent) the whole thing goes down the drain.

Beckham is more likely to be in the first team than Terry or Carragher.

Surely you are making an attempt at comedy Toon. Becks is one of the best players in the World , still. His free kicks are Class and his corner kicks too. Maybe Becks just lit up Newcastle a little too much when he played for Man U, and you're still have hard feelings for him. Either way, I know you just made that statement as a comical one, because I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are knowledgeable on the game. :)

It's usually a requirement for the captain to be a first team player. ;)

Gerrad is inspirational for Liverpool, so he should definitely (in my opinion ;) ) be the England captain.

He leads by example if you aks me - with passion as well. I think Becks is usually a good role model on the field, but Stevie G. is the whole package :) .

I wasn't being funny...Beckham will never be as good as he was..free kicks and corners make up a small percentage of the game..i just think that by the time the wc comes around players like SWP will be picked ahead of him and he'll never get into the centre mid-position because Lampard and Gerrard are so much better than him. And it is my knowledge of the game that lets me see this ;)

Becks is good but to call him one of the best in the world is daft (in my opinion). The guy is pretty limited at what he does. He was great when he was at Man Utd however his form has dipped since going to spain.

I am not a liverpool supporter but I think the right person to captain England is Gerrard.

I don't know who voted for Beckham but I would've thought it is a given that he is no longer fit for the Captaincy! The real candidates are between Terry and Gerrard and Terry got my vote just because he plays amazingly well for England and is consistent. Gerrard is not always consistent (that is arguable) but more importantly I haven't seen the form he has had for Liverpool in England (correct me if I am wrong).
