I figured I would get a headstart on this thread since it will be Bayern's biggest game up to date this summer. Bayern will finally face somewhat of real competition since last terms whomping of Schalke in the final. Karlruhe is a second division club and usually youngsters in the area grow up to become pretty good German footballers.

A bit of a Heimkehr for Olli and Scholl. Should be fun.

Scholl.... man, I never realized that he has yet to play in a World Cup... is that right?!! Dude, not at all a fair shake for this talented player. I hope Klinsmann is seriously considering putting him on the roster for 06.

Regardless, this should be the most challenging preseason match to date. Looking forward to it.

Projected lineups?? Are the Confederation Cup players back from rest yet?
Here are the lineups and substitutions of the past three matches:

-------------------------------------------------------

Bayern Munich: Rensing - Sagnol, Jeremies (Mauersberger 46), Ismael, Lizarazu - Hargreaves, Karimi (Ottl 46), Salihamidzic (Rau 46), Scholl - Makaay, Santa Cruz

Bayern: Rensing (Dreher 46) - Ottl, Jeremies, Ismael, Rau (Santa Cruz 46) - Salihamidzic (Mauersberger 46), Hargreaves, Karimi (Makaay 46), Scholl (Sagnol 46) - Pizarro, Guerrero

Bayern: Rensing - Sagnol, Jeremies, Ismael (Mauersberger 46), Rau - Salihamidzic, Hargreaves, Karimi, Scholl - Makaay (Pizarro 46), Santa Cruz (Guerrero 46)

--------------------------------------------------------

Rau sale pretty much puts Bixente back into the LB spot, unless Brazzo steps in there. Thus probable lineup looks as follows:

....................Rensing
Sagnol.....Jeremies.... Ismael....Lizarazu
..................Hargreaves
Brazzo...............................Scholl
....................Karimi
..........Makaay......Santa Cruz

Confederation Cup absentees:
Germany - Kahn,Ballack,Schweinsteiger,Deisler
Brazil - Lucio, Ze Roberto
Argentina - Demichelis

Too bad we couldn't have seen a lineup like that in Chicago last summer!!!!

I don't think Ballack and Co. will be back in training until the end of the month.

Anyways, this should be interesting, lets see how Karimi will do against slightly better competition.

I predict Ottl stepping up.

Hey while you said that, since theyre going to be in asia this summer do you think that if they came next summer they would have time to show up with a complete club? Or they won't come till the following year because of the WC :D

Karlsruhe fights for 3:3 against FC Bayern

July 17th, 2005
The German Giants Bayern Munich had to be content in the first hard test in the preparation for the new national term with a draw. The citizens of Munich came 19 days before the season prelude-game against Borussia narrow store stream in the Zweitligisten Karlsruhe SC to a 3:3 (1:1). Good to hear positive news about Karimi against a pretty good opponent :D
Everything else was somewhat depressing to hear even though we are missing most of our starting lineup. Ballack, Schweinsteiger, Deisler, Kahn, Ze Roberto, and Lucio.

Karlsruher fans should be happy at how their pre-season is progressing. First they beat VfB 3-2, and now they're able to tie Bayern.

I didn't see any whole match of Bayern but i'm sure they start not bad in the new season. The Confed-players sadly won't be fit but the FC Bayern has many other good players.

Rather disapointing result if you ask me.

I don't think I could ever be truly disappointed about the result of a friendly. It's competitive training/practice.
