Please tell me which UK or English newspapers you read and WHY?

I usually float around and read various ones, but haven't had much time this summer just curious at to what my fellow Gooners read for British news.

Thanks.

I check out the Sun because there are usually soom booby shots, but I look at the Guardian for footie news.

The Guardian is hands down the best UK paper, and has the best website as well... their footie coverage is pretty damn good as well - the daily "Fiver" email you can sign up for on their site is usually pretty hilarious.

However, if you're a Bush voter, or RickB, the Times is probably your better choice. They have good UK and World coverage with a clear conservative bent, but their sports coverage is lacking.

Sometimes when I feel like laughing, I'll access any of the other tabloid papers - the Daily Mirror, the Sun, the Daily Telegraph (sorry, Torygraph). I really like the fact these papers spend no time employing fact checkers, and dont care what they print.

I can't find where you sign up for the Daily Fiver. Please help.
In the past I usually read The Times or The Guardian. They were the 2 papers that we got for free on our honeymoon.

The Guardian is usually an interesting read, though often with an anti-American slant. I can live with it though. I like their Sport and Travel sections best.

Greetings from Mayfair.

We have been here visiting this week. I have been enjoying the footie news in the Guardian, but the front pages make me laugh. It is the like the Move On News, very anti-American. I have also been reading the Telegraph and the Times and been enjoying both.

I never denied that! :D

The Sun is also good for such stories as "Pires to be tapped up by Martians" and "Fergie hits Becks with Boot" (ooops, that did happen)!

My favorite bit from today is:

Most people can afford to take time out when chasing Mark Viduka, and Graeme Souness did just that today to warn Arsenal that they'll have to pay "a lot more than the £12m Patrick Vieira is reportedly being sold for" if they want to buy Jermaine Jenas. Hilariously, the Scot then added that he may try to lure Sol Campbell to St James's Park.

I really liked this letter submission too... :)

"With the aide of a salt cellar, pepper grinder and a selection of random condiment jars I tried explaining the new 'interfering with play' offside rule to my girlfriend last night. Although this method has worked successfully in the past, after numerous attempts I gave up. On the bright side we ended up with a fantastic marinade for our chicken"
