Depends on who's around them. There're enough differences in their style of play that a direct comparison can't be made. Rooney is about power and speed. VP, while not slow, has more guile. Just a matter of how they fit in with the team. Both are terrific talents. One is not 'better' than the other.

I love van Persie's potential as a striker....but even this Arsenal fan will admit that Rooney is the more accomplished player right now.

Agreed, as some have already mentioned Rooney is obviously the more accomplished of the two, This comparison might be better to make at the end of next season.

As for the poll, Rooney is the best striker on England, while Van Persie is a mere sub for the Dutch. Nuff said.
Both players are extremely talented - but Rooney has the capacity to be one of the best in the world.

Lol, ok first your big brother reference doesn't make any sense. Secondly, I meant it as a joke and it obviously tweaked some people the wrong way so my mistake. People are so touchy on these boards, sheesh.
