Yeah there are rep-whoring threads in various places on BigSoccer, and that whole idea basically invalidates the principle of rep. You'll see people with 7-8 nipples but only 100 or so posts. Meanwhile there are also certain posters, who shall remain nameless, who are mostly idiots but have a certain following and receive rep from their minions. If you look around enough places (especially the USA Forums, World Rivalries, and Politics) you'll figure out who I'm referring to.

Yeah, my problem is, I rep binge. I'll leave rep to anything I think is worthy for a day or two, and then I don't rep again for days.... and I miss alot of things I would normally rep. I'd like a thread that contains rep-worthy posts, that way I can rep the people who deserve it, as well as it reminds me to rep in other places too...

They gain rep, but only a little bit. The amount of rep you give (either positive or negative) is proportional to the amount you have. So the more you have, the more you give.

The more rep you accrue, the more "power" your rep has behind it. If a newbie comes in with one green, and he trolls, I can neg rep him and he'll probably have a red one after I refresh my screen. The only people whose rep doesn't have much affect are the newbies and anybody with red/neg rep...

Also, it may not appear to you that rep has been effective, but after you get to different levels, it scales a certain way.

Like:

1-100 > 1 green
100-250 > 2 green
250 - 750 > 3 green

That's just an example, I don't know what the actual numbers are, but you can see the idea.
