As it stands, the only players listed at forwards for Gold Cup are Wolff, Noonan, and Quaranta. With Casey injured, Arena will have to consider who he wants in there as a replacement. Will he go with experience or a young hopeful? I personally would like to see Arena experiment with a new face up front. Like... Jaqua, Buddle, or Cunningham? Maybe Johnson will get called now that he is somewhat healthy? Ching is still recovering. Maybe McBride or Twellman?

i think this is a perfect game to try out Jacqua. why not? we know he would put in a much higher work rate than Buddle (but that's not saying a whole lot). and, God forbid, he scores ... one can only imagine the chain reaction of threads that would set off :)

Landon might have to move up as a forward as well.

I've heard a rumor that Bruce may try Clint Dempsey as a forward.

no. you name a 23-man roster before the tournament and that's who you go with until it's over.

In '03, teams were allowed an 8-man injury reserve roster, but that must've been changed......ouch.

Even if Arena can call in a replacement, Jaqua wouldn't be it. He's been injured the past couple of weeks. Minor injury and he should be back Saturday but I doubt Arena would call him up under these circumstances.

Quaranta was called up on June 26th to replace Eddie Johnson after the original roster had been released on the 23rd. I'm assuming there is a deadline associated with replacement players then? Is it the day of the first match? Just curious.

I think last time when you were allowed a "reserve roster" it was because you were only allowed an 18-man active roster. This time around, the U.S.A. HAD a 23-man roster.
As far as Quaranta replacing EJ, I think there is a deadline 24 hours before your team plays its first game (or is it 24 hourse before the tournament begins???)
