For those of you in the warmer climates or those who perspire excesively; what do you use to keep sweat from dripping into your eyes?
I use an UnderArmour terry cloth-type headband, but it was made for basketball and it definately influences the direction of your header. ANy suggestions?

I'm not a fan of headbands. I just use a wrist band. or a wrist towel whatever you wanna call it.
I tend to sweat a lot, so I wear one on each side and replace them after halftime.

You can just rub some vasaline through your eyebrows and that will stop the sweat from running into your eyes.

Yeah the vaseline thing really works. We did it one year at a tournament. the field temp was 118F. FREAKING hot, and someone told me about it, and sure enough it works. The one thing you have to be careful of is if you wipe your forhead/eyes, you don't want that stuff in your eyes. I only tried it that one tourney, I just usually just wipe my brow with my sleeve also.... :o

May be it's a bit off topic and may be I'm asking a dumb question, but why in so many american outdoor sports like baseball and football athlets stick some black stripes under their eyes or just paint them there? I've also seen couple times soccer players using these things. For example, in WC2002 bronze match turkish keeper was wearing them.

The reason for that is to cut refelction from the sun. I'm not sure how it works but an old goalkeeper I used to play with used use eyeblack.

It does work. You dont need loads just a bit on your finger. I cant wear sweat bands. They annoy me when im playing. They make me feel even hotter if that makes sense? - lol  well i know what i mean!!
I usually just use my sleeve or the bottom of my shirt.

I usually use the bottom of my shirt, or undershirt. only problem is I do sweat a lot, probably too much lol- and, I end up wiping sweat away with sweat. and I have longer hair, so it just drips into my eyes.

You can make a hairband out of the thin foam pre-wrap. It grips the hair, let's air pass through to the head and affect on headers is minimal.

It's a foam stuff that you're supposed to wrap with first before taping your legs or whatever, so that the tape can give enough compression and support without sticking directly to your skin.

Hahaha, well i just tend to use a really big elastic band. Its the best thing i've ever used for my hair. It keeps it back off my face and doesnt slip when heading the ball. You can buy them in packs from stationers. Or if you want to be really brave you can go into a girlie shop and buy some all black big hair elastics that are designed for holding you hair back off your face. The only probably i've experienced with these are that they slip off your head as they dont hold as much grip like the elastic bands. Some people in my team use the foam stuff but i like my elastic band - lol :D

Before I had my hair cornrowed, pathetic as it may sound, I used an alice band to keep my hair out of my face. That pinned it back really well but my girlfriend started complaining when I nicked hers before matches! Now that I have my hair cornrowed it just throws itself about a bit but nothing excessive.
