Apologies to my girlfriends in Sleater Kinney, and to New Order, this may actually be the album of the year.
I can't get over how good this is. I expected it to be great, I did not expect it to be this good.

Placido, good man. I was waiting for someone to take me at my word here.
Greetings from Michigan, the Great Lakes State is probably the best place to start if you liked this one. Same idea. Lush orchestration etc...
Seven Swans is an all time favorite of mine, but thats much more stripped down than this either of the ones from his 50 states series.
If you ever get a chance to see him live, you won'ty be disapointed. I'll be going to Covington on this tour of his.

Picked it up for 7 notes at Used Kids.
A recommendation for you. Ray LaMontagne - Trouble. Great album. Kinda hard to describe but worth the listen.

what an amazing disk. you're so right its like glass and reich got together and created a bizarro pop album. at points its just achingly beautiful.

Is he really going to actually complete the whole "50 States" thing. I don't know how old he is, but if you do the math, that means he would work at least into his 70's (assuming an album a year).

No. The link on the Southgate website still says "BUY." 12 / 15
I don't think it's in any danger of selling out either.

Ride down with Sufjan. The album is about as long as the trip.

Wanted to bring this back, because I just gave it a listen tonight and like. I'm sure I'm not the first guy to say, "this isn't my kind of music but I dig it."
Can't wait for Ohio.
