Lately I have been hearing a lot of talk on Mexican TV about players like Jesus Corona who are getting attention from Euro clubs (more specifically the EPL), and it is tough to get any info on it. I simply wish to know the honest opinion of you, the EPL fans on this matter. Are there any specific Mexicans you would like to see play for your club? Do you know the name of even one player on the Mexican National Team? Do you think that Mexican players are nothing but scum-sucking, diving, cheating trash? I simply want to get the honest Englishman's opinion.

Well I'm not English but I know most Manchester United fans are pretty high on Rafael Marquez, Jared Borghetti might be a good fit for some EPL teams.

I can't remember any Mexicans playing over here yet. Would be interesting to have some, although the work permit restricts it to only those with duel EU nationality or starting XI national team players. I guess those like that are already in La Liga or highly paid at their Mexican club.

If there was a preconception it would be that like most Latin players they may be good technically, but might find it hard with the physical side of the game and not be so keen on living here due to the difference in weather. I can't say there would be anything negative at all other than that and Mexicans aren't known as cheats or bad people over here.

It all depends on the individual. Klinsmann was known as the biggest diver in world football yet he was judged on how he did in the league and behaved, and was very popular from his first season on.

Where does Jesus Corona play? What club and what position?

Hugo Sanchez used to be pretty good and also the keeper with the bright coloured shirts.

Didnt he invent Corona? That taste-bud friendly mexican beer with a cheeky lime in the bottle neck.

Jared Borghetti is class. I don't think he would leave Mexico to go to EPL, but he has real skills. I sort of see him as a Morientes type player, good with his head on set pieces. He's linked with Hertha Berlin, according to sources.

But news yesterday indicated he might go to Bolton. Interesting.

BTW. Mexican Beer is Bohemia.

Read an article somewhere that players in Mexico make over $1 million playing for their clubs in Mexico. Considering the economy there that's equal to much more than that playing in Europe. Mexican players can make a seriously good living at home, without having to uproot themselves or their families, or deal with, in their terms, dodgey weather patterns. Only the most ambitious would be interested in Europe.

That is a very valid point. Mexican league players make a lot of money, possibly the most in all of the Americas. However, nobody ever became truly worldclass (well, almost nobody) playing their entire career on this hemisphere. To be a true great one must play in the top leagues in Europe. Everybody knows the EPL is top three in the world, if not the best.

We had a lengthy discussion about the merit of North American strikers over on the Newcastle board(The Striker Situation). I for one think Borghetti's game would be perfect for the Prem.I hate him becaue he plays for the tri color but I would like to have seen him in St. James Park. My only questions is his age. some of the Mexicans I work with think he's 34 while Sky sports has got him at 27.

He's 31. He's the 3rd leading scorer all-time in Mexican League history, 1 of only 3 players to score 200 goals.

Although his goal against Italy in the 2002 WC is still the best of his I've ever seen.

I believe Borgetti will be the only Mexican in the EPL.
