I love OLN's coverage of the Tour. one of the commentators also commentates on football, i think.

Really? That would be interesting. Paul Sherwen used to be a professional cyclist (bit of a journeyman/sprinter). Perhaps Phil Liggett does football as well but I know he's been doing cycling since at least the early 1980's.

All that cycling just makes me want to smoke a cig and grab a beer somewhere.

Yeah if only the Tour hadnt become so boring... Armstong has done to cycling what Schumacher did to Formula 1... and pity the guy who will win next year. Everyone will just say he won because armstrong retired.

I'm still hoping he shows up as a spectator next year, if only to see Sheryl Crow in a nice, and revealing, summer outfit :)

On a more serious note the Tour de France has to one of the best, if not the best, sporting event in a world. When I used to live in France we'd go to many of the stages, and one year I camped out in the Alps and caught a great stage the next day... it was a huge party. If anyone gets the chance, I highly recommend the Tour de France experience

Cycling has not become boring, Lance has just raised the bar. Also most teams are not built the way they assemble the teams around Lance-they work for him and not for themselves-they pull him up the mountains and then since he has saved his legs, punishes the rest. Most teams have no single focus-take Telecom-4 world class riders-Vino, Ulrich, Kloden and Beloki-they do not work together at all.......

I didnt mean Lance was boring... I was saying its boring because there's no doubt who will win. Sports are built on rivalries and the hope of the unexpected... Lance has killed the possibility of any of that in cycling.

I also disagree with your contention that Lance's team is built differently than others. Pretty much every team signs a "star" cyclist and builds around them. Some teams may have two main cyclists, but most teams are working together for their main guy come the mountains... the only difference right now is that Lance's team is by far the best... but they're not unique.

Perhaps built was the wrong word to use - maybe mindset would have been a better choice?

I haven't been either but I'm looking forward to it. I have a few friends that live out there and one is going to be at the same conference. Should be a lot of fun. I was hoping to go out the weekend before but I am in a wedding on that Saturday. Also can't stay the rest of the week b/c I will be heading to London two weeks later!!!

:D :D

It always seems that my trips/social events get lumped together! Most of the time there is nothing going on, then all kinds of work/personal events come up. In September I have to present at a conference, co-host an engineering field trip, go to a big beach bash and a bachelor party. In October there is my anniversary, presenting at another conference, in a wedding, and the trip to THOF! Whew!!! :D
