How is it that South Africa is participating in the CONCACAF Gold tourney? I thought it was for countries in North, Central and South America?
Granted, Africa and South America were once together if you subscribe to the Continental Drift theory. But that was many, many moons ago.
Please explain.
Thank you!

it's commonplace for CONCACAF to invite other teams to the tourney. South Korea(2001) and Brazil u-23(2003) were in the last couple of editions of the competition.
Keep in mind too that Mexico regularly participates in CONMEBOL's Copa America, and we've even played in it before.
With that said, I think a confederation's tournament should only feature teams from said confederation.
