hey, i was wondering if you guys could provied me with information as to which boots in their FG versions had reputations for locking in the ground causing knee problems --> i have a pair of accelerators which i have recently acquired and was told by a work colleague that he had a pair which locked and he done his knee ligaments wearing them.

is this a footballing urban myth? i'd like to know asap as i have training in the morning and want to use them.

thanks

I've never had that problem with any adidas FG boots. Once with some Lottos I hurt my knee but other than that I haven't ever had any trouble.

Im pretty sure they only EVER came out with that sole plate. It was the cheaper version of the boots that had the studs on them

Yeah, those are SG/FG. adidas made three versions, that one, one with big round studs in the current X-TRX layout, and one with a really small blade version of today's FG. There are some pics in a thread where a guy was selling a bunch of them awhile ago. I think the title was "Adidas Predator Accelerator," and I think they talked about the many different Accelerator soleplates. But I think you can really use them on either surface.

I've seen 2 types of sole plates for the accelerators. One like in the picture then one with 8 metal screw in studs.

people, are these boots prone to this so-called "locking"? if not, which boots are?

Man United banned it's youth team players from wearing the AZT90II's because the lateral grip was so strong it damaged one player's knees. Or so they assume it's the boot's fault. But that could be a case of 'locking' I suppose.

is that specifically the fg versions?? with the soleplate that roberto carlos still uses with his AZT90III's?

you all reckon these accelerators are safe to use though, right??

I've never had any problem with "locking." I have heard that the soleplate from the azt90II cause knee problems, which is why they changed it for the new model. But, I had accelerators back in the day and never had any problems.

I like the grip from the azt 2's I haven't had problems with what you are talking about.

i had the neon accelerators 6 years ago, never had a problem with them. your colleague probably has some knee problem to start with for a boot to coz him substantial amt of harm. use the boots on the appropriate grounds.

AZT90II's will lock sometimes on turf or very thick grass fields. That's why i stopped using mine except on hard pitches.
