UNFP (Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels) is, well, just that, the Pro Players Union.
Between two seasons, they organize friendlies to help the unemployed players : soccer is a dog-eat-dog world, many players every season are without a job, so they're giving them a chance to keep fit, play a little bit, show themselves.

Strange. I got contrasting info on this a week ago.
They originally confirmed the presence of Valence in Ligue 2, then went against that and then finally said they would be in Ligue 2.....
Valence reste en National
Le Conseil Fédéral a décidé ce vendredi de ne pas donner suite aux propositions du conciliateur du CNOSF qui demandait le réexamen financier du club de Valence. La décision de la DNCG confirmée par la commission d'appel s'applique donc. Valence n'est pas autorisé à monter en Ligue 2 et jouera la saison prochaine en National.
Shame really. They did so well last year...
