almost 5 or 6 different guys did during these years....
That sounds very stressful on the OM supporters. I feel bad for them.

you might remember tho that many of these reserves held PSG to a nil nil draw in Paris on march 5. Marseille can develop players, but I agree that 119 is excessive.

latest rumors...
L'OM eye reinforcements
Marseille are eyeing reinforcements ahead of next season, with several players reportedly targeted.
L'OM are not guaranteed European football next term after an inconsistent campaign, and are keen to push harder for honours next time round.
The club's main concern is defence, and unsettled Toulouse centre back Lucien Aubey has emerged as one of the likeliest buys.
The highly-rated youngster is contracted to Toulouse until 2009, but is eager for a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Sochaux stopper Souleymane Diawara is also a transfer target, but Marseille are sure to face stiff competition from several top teams if they want to land the Senegalese powerhouse.
Marseille have reportedly made a verbal agreement with Ligue Two side Caen for versatile defender Ronald Zubar, but Lyon are expected to turn down L'OM's offer for exciting right back Francois Clerc.
Finally, Marseille are tracking the progress of Rennes captain Olivier Monterrubio.
The playmaker has just one year remaining on his contract, but will probably delay a decision about his future until after Rennes' UEFA Champions League hopes have been settled one way or the other.

I was just reading on the Bayren Munich transfer thread on their forum where they were talking about Ribery. I'll give you guys the message here because if I do it there it might be considering trolling. Stop talking about Ribery because you have zero chance of getting him. The days of Bayren getting top talent from the French league are long over. A player like Ribery if he leaves OM will go straight to England, Italy or Spain. Oh and the reason he has a huge scar on his face is because he was in a car accident so you knucklehads over there keep making fun of his looks all you want because there is no way hes going to your s^^tty club.

Sounds like this is a good move for everyone. Koke is in the last year of his contract and isn't really in OM future. So why not get something for him?

Lyon was gonna send OM 3 players for Franck Ribery but it doesnt appear OM will accept that deal. The 3 players mentioned are Anthony Reveillre, Sidney Govou and John Carew.

For what it's worth, Carew is the only one of any real value.

Reviellre would be going to the World Cup if he wasnt injured. Govou isnt bad and was on the fringe of making the 23 for France. Id say both players are better than Carew. The deal wouldnt happen anyway because why would OM do this when they could sell him abroad for 25 million.

Pape Diouf : Exclusive interview
Check out this exclusive interview with Pape Diouf: the next OM coach, Franck Ribéry, summer signings and departures, get the low down as the Marseille president reveals all…
http://s.om.net/om/image/article/illustration/14/2642.jpg
After Didier Deschamps decided not to accept the post, how is the search for a new coach going an dis there a date fixed by Olympique de Marseille to have it all finalised?
There is no deadline since Didier Deschamps turned the job down.
There was no problem with Deschamps, just a difference of opinion on the subject. That meant we pulled out of negotiations because we didn’t agree with the means he wanted at his disposal or with his philosophical approach.
Secondly, there is no deadline to find a coach. It’s other people that are in a hurry for us to get it done, but not us for the simple reason that we don’t want to be pressured into a decision and rush things. One mustn’t forget that this season we have favoured stability and now that we’ve found stability we don’t want to upset everything.
Certainly Jean Fernandez has gone. He was an important player in this role, but not the only one... there were others.
As for the recruitment for the new coach, we already have our own ideas and know exactly where we want to go. So in that respect there’s no need to rush anything either because that only leads to confusion.
There are certain that think that if OM doesn’t announce its new coach then the recruitment process stalls... that’s completely false.
At the moment there is no priority and we also have several contacts that haven’t been spoken about yet, simply because nobody knows about them. Between the names circulating in the media and the reality of actual contact, it’s night and day.
What you need to know is that during this period we are sounding out people, but there are also a lot of coaches, and also other intermediaries that are putting names forward at such a rate that suddenly we end up with a list of possible candidates as long as your arm. In reality the list is very small. We have the time to find the right man and we’ll use it.
In all the names that re being bandied about, there are some that we have contacted, but just contacted and nothing more.
You have suggested a certain type of profile in your search, can you define that for us?
There are two or three important criteria. Firstly, the man that comes to OM must have an incontestable manner and be of top quality.
We also want this man to be someone who knows how to deal with human beings.
And finally, he needs to be able to adapt to both the city of Marseille and the club.
There have been some big foreign coaches named, could that type of coach fit the bill?
The future OM coach must first of all speak French. He must be able to communicate with his squad, for me, that is fundamental.
Today we can say that the preparation of a team, be it physical, technical, tactical, medical and even nutritional, the methods are all fairly uniform.
All over the world, we work more or less in the same way. However that is where the coach’s personality comes into it, in terms of the psychology. A coach must be able to communicate in order to get the best out of his squad. That cuts the list you’re referring to down dramatically. However if there is a coach that fits all the criteria and he’s a foreigner, that poses no problem at all.
Would the best solution not be a short-term coach?
That’s an option that we certainly haven’t abandoned. In fact that’s something we’re thinking about. We thinking about everything and we want be long in making a decision. A short-term solution is something we’re looking at and we will reveal our decision at the right time and place.
Franck Ribéry is the object of much speculation. After Lyon, Manchester United have stepped in. Are these offers real and how does OM plan on acting?
The offers are real. Jean-Michel Aulas didn’t hesitate to claim his interest for Franck Ribéry loud and clear, perhaps even a little too loud sometimes. But I met him this week in Brussels at a G14 meeting and he stressed it was more poor form on his part than actually trying to cause trouble.
I told him that, for this coming season, our intention was to keep hold of the player. And that we had the support and understanding of our principal shareholder.
So our number one intention is to keep Franck Ribéry for another season at OM.
There is also the interest from Manchester United, even if it has been conducted with a lot more courtesy and delicacy. The Manchester club told us that they might be interested in the player. But I also told them the same thing: that it was our intention to keep the player no matter who was asking and that in our eyes, he is untransferable. Manchester United acknowledged this.
So this twin interest is certainly real, but there is a third interested party, OM.
If Franck Ribéry has been able to give so much to the club, to Marseille, then it’s also because the club allowed him to express himself and fulfil his potential more consistently and on a higher stage. It has been a reciprocal arrangement in a number of ways.
That means that Franck Ribéry will therefore be a Marseille player next season…
That’s what I’ve said since the very start.
It was never our intention, not for a second, to imagine Franck Ribéry leaving the club, neither on loan or permanent transfer.
We’re talking about the quality and the backbone that exists at Olympique de Marseille, and we’ve always said we want to reinforce that base, enrich it, not go in the opposite direction. And when I’m talking about backbone, obviously I’m including Franck Ribéry, but he’s not the only one. There are other players in this team that have very impressive qualities and also had very good seasons. In our eyes, Franck Ribéry will be at Marseille for at least one more year.
End of part one. Part two to follow…

Exclusive interview with Pape Diouf (continued…)
Check out part two of our exclusive interview with Marseille President Pape Diouf...
While you’re talking about important players, Sabri Lamouchi had a one-year contract with OM, will he be at the club next season?
In Sabri’s contract, it was clearly stipulated that he could remain with us after playing a certain number of matches. He reached that number so he’s staying with us. But it’s not just because of that we asked him to stay with the club. It’s also because of his double role, both on the pitch and off it, he’s one of the central people in the club and we’re delighted that he’s continuing with us, for at least one more season.
Have you reached an agreement with Marcinho Guerreiro’s Brazilian club for his transfer?
The negotiations are continuing... we haven’t yet reached an agreement to complete his definitive transfer to OM. However we have agreed personal terms with the player and we hope to find some common ground with his club in the coming days. But for the moment we can’t say that it’s a done deal.
Djibril Cissé recently revealed, in the newspaper La Provence, that he has a special affection for OM. Have you made contact with him?
We haven’t been able to talk directly with the player, even if we did not so long ago. But it’s true we have spoken to members of his entourage. The certainly it appears Djibril would love to wear the colours of Olympique de Marseille, he’s said it publicly himself and revealed his sentiments for this club. Obviously, therefore, we can imagine that Djibril is one player that would interest us. However, it’s not as easy as that. We know that when a player is playing overseas, especially in England, we’re often talking about a lot of money. He’s currently a Liverpool player and we’d have to reach an agreement with them to buy out his contract. So yes, the interest is real and manifest, but there is also some competition for his signature and once again, it’s called Jean-Michel Aulas. What is he offering? I don’t know, but as the president of OM I categorically refuse to get into a bidding war because I don’t believe in paying more than market value for any player. Just because there’s some competition – and long live competition – that we lose our heads and go way over the player’s value. Also, we’re under no illusions here at Marseille about our situation. We have long benefited from the financial support of our majority shareholder. We have set about restoring the club’s financial strength and that has set us some limits. Even if our ambition remains intact.
Concretely speaking, how many off-season recruits is the club looking for and in what positions?
Up until now, with Jean Fernandez, we decided that the team needed reinforcing, but not a total overhaul. We predicted that three new players would suffice: that is to say, a central defender to improve our speed and strength in this domain. Secondly, we’re looking for a midfielder to work in tandem and to cover Lorik Cana, because we really struggled when he was absent. And finally, we’re thinking of bolstering the front line. So that’s the three players we’re looking for to solidify the squad. Of course that’s before the new coach and the process could alter slightly with his arrival, but I think we’ll stick with that plan, while also looking for a young talented player to help complete the squad.
Are there any player currently under contract with OM who will not be wearing the blue and white next season?
There are those who have come out of contract. José Delfim and Demetrius Ferreira will not be at Marseille next season. There are other cases that need addressing such as the players returning from loan spells such as Salomon Olembé, Fabrice Fiorèse and others that want to leave after not seeing enough playing time. We know that building a team is all about finding the right balance and that’s what we’ll be looking for. The transfer market is very quiet for the moment so it wouldn’t be right to wade in buying and selling left right and centre.
What about players such as Bamogo and Luyindula, could the new coach change the situation of these players?
I don’t think you can stick the new coach’s name to all the decisions the club has to make. Obviously the new coach will have his word, give his advice and opinion but we’ll be working collectively to find the right solutions that respond to the correct sporting criteria. We’re a club and it’s important to present a unified front. We’ll treat each case with a maximum of humanity and respect in order to find the right solutions.
So just a final word on the loan players Fiorès, Bamogo and Koke, do they have a future with OM?
It’s too early to say today. They all have contracts with us so they are part of OM. If we don’t find any solutions that suit the player and the club then they could effectively stay here. But one mustn’t forget that we’re only at the start of June and there’s still two months before the start of the season. A lot of water will pass under the bridge between now and then and we’ll have plenty of time to look at each case and consider it from every angle.
