Most people give Sven Goran Eriksson stick about his England job, but if it wasn't for Beckham they would've won Euro 2004, and could've gone to the semifinals of the WC in 2006.. it's not his fault the English fall under pressure at penalties.
In my eyes he would be good for L'OM...
But it is his fault that they played boring, defensive soccer throughout his tenure. I'm willing to give him a chance, but if the CL doesn't happen I want him out this summer.

Winners know how to handle pressure, simple as that. Look at Germany and Italy, both are as tough as nails when it comes to penalties. You could sense when Germany and Argentina went to penalties who was going to win.
Also when Italy when to penalties against the French. Each penalty was unstoppable.

The Lillian Thuram rumor is interesting because the current ownership would not pay for a player like this but the new ownership probably would I bet. A player like Thuram under Dreyfuss would be deemed too expensive but under the new owner I bet that would change.RLD has oodles of dough and has farked over a ton of it... the problem is how wisely it was done. tutu is like a god to me, perhaps my all time favorite player, but i think he would be a poor signing for OM. it's not one player they need to fill a precise gap, it's a whole string of positions they need to strengthen or deepen. the kind of money that would bring thuram, even on loan, could be used to much greater effect.

Eriksson's failure with a selection shouldn't make us forget all his titles with Göteborg, Benfica and Lazio ! :)
But I'm still certain he won't come... :(

OM: an additional recruit? (11/01)
The OM, which has just recruited the medium of ground Salim Arrache and the defender Julien Rodriguez, could continue well to make speak about him on the market of the transfers. In accordance with the wish of its sporting director Anigo, the club phocéen could enrôler indeed a left medium in the days which come. The names of Kily Gonzalez and Zé Roberto currently circulate on Canebière. Old international Argentinian and Nerazzuro, Kily Gonzalez, 31 years, returned to the country it there have a few months and currently evolve/move in Rosario Central. Ex-Auriverde and Inhabitant of Munich, Zé Roberto as for him rejoined Santos with the intersaison. The contract of the champion of the world 2002 comprises a clause however making it possible to the player to join a European club lasting the winter mercato. An aubaine for the Olympian leaders, who could propose soon with Brazilian contract of one year and half. To follow attentively... (By Guillaume Duhamel)

Former Bayern Munich winger Ze Roberto is close to a move back to Europe, with Marseille said to be ready to offer him a one-and-a-half year deal.
The 32-year-old is currently contracted to Brazilian side Santos until the end of the season, though has a clause in his deal permitting him to return to Europe in the January transfer window.
French media reports indicate Ze Roberto is already in negotiations with Marseille, who are looking to add experience to their squad as they push to secure a Champions League place.
Ze Roberto has made 84 appearances for the Brazilian national team, scoring six goals.

Ze Roberto would be a decent signing. Kily Gonzalez no. Why? After Valencia...

He's also played DM for Brazil, so he could be an option there as well. When he's played in that role he's always had another holding midfielder beside him, so I'm not sure he could do it by himself, but his versatility would definitely be a major boon to the team.

As far as im aware the Ze roberto deal is dead due to his wage demands, supposedly OM are going for some ukranian guy now, kalnychenko i think his name is. Dont know any thing about him but i think we should consider making a move for Jeremie Clement who's future is now incertain at rangers due to Le Guen's departure

A Canadian BILLIONARE just bought the team so I really cant understand why someone's wage demands would be a problem now.

because salaries must be paid by incomes, not from the money owners.
at least it has to be like that in a firm that wants to work well, or l'OM will go bankrupt again. that are the basis of all good finacial state and good accountancy.
owners or shareholders are not here to pay the bills, but to invest and to give to the firm the possibility to create incomes and to pay the bills by itself.
if the guy do this, he will be another RLD, and football will always be about teams losing money.

Standard Liege's website is announcing that Oguchi Onyewu will be headed to Marseille. Do you guys think that Gooch will replace Zubar or Rodriguez, if any?

lol Oguchi is a big guy for sure. However, from what I've seen he is not as skilled as Zubar, who is a great talent, or Rodriguez, who has by all accounts gelled superbly with the team, bringing an enormous amount of experience. The marseillais defense is one of the strongest in the league and only looks to get better in the spring.

It won't be the next Fulham because no one can see Ligue 1 in the USA. ;)

Habib Bamogo was loaned to Celta Vigo in Spain. With Cisse, Niang, Pagis, Moulida at forward I guess he was surplus.

Cisse said he will stay at Marseille if they qualify for the Champions League. I pretty much thought this would be the case all along. Him and Ribery both.
