You know how I get the Washington Post? On the Internet.

Go to the BS home page and, oh look, there's some GC-related material from the Chicago Tribune.

You know how you can get the Chicago Tribune? On the Internet.

Golly, it's like people who still care which candidate their paper is going to endorse, as if they couldn't be bothered to research the thing themselves.

Uh, no, my friend, it is not like that at all. It is like wanting the newspaper to write things that I care about, and that I believe others could care about too, if it was WRITTEN ABOUT.

Thanks for your input though, or not.

Im in agreement about the press, but this is not just an anomaly, this is normal life, the print papers dont give football the time of day. Its sad, but thats what they do (however the Orange County Register had a half page spread yesterday about Steven Gerrard and other football news).

And of course, the fact that it's not on English language television anywhere doesn't help matters.

I know that soccer or football is not so popular sport like here in Germany
or England. We get enough soccer stuff in Germany, have many
chat forums, news, web-sites, etc. etc. As already for Americans
it is difficult to read about analysis of US men soccer team, then it
is much more difficult for me as a german fan. I mostly keep me
informed here at bigsoccer and other web-sites. But looking at
your newspaper I can not find any news about soccer. Maybe it
is because Americans are not so interested in this sport.
If I look at this board, I can meet many people interested in soccer.
So I live "in american soccer world" here:). The more I attend this
board, the more I like it. The more I like it, the more I´m interested
in american soccer. I also want to write some articles about
american soccer for german fans. I´m thinking about it. I think
many Germans have no idea about new talents in the USA.
If you say USA in Germany, you would hear: USA and soccer?
So I really think to write some articles to introduce your
soccer here. Maybe I should be really soccer reporter.
I would comment every game so funny that people would
love soccer, even in the USA. Maybe soccer need more
show and more promotion now and then.
I also promissed USA fans who want to come to Germany next year
to help them. But I will write special thread about it. With your help.
Without your questions does not work any thread:)

So come everone here and try to do the best soccer board
about american soccer from this wonderful bigsoccer!

Newspapers and TV will start taking this tournament seriously when CONCACAF does.

It's all about validation.

Hey, did I mention that there's a Gold Cup preview in ECG#26?

Actually, I think the papers that have games have had stories. And AP has a story on Keller that kind of serves as an overall preview.

The Post doesn't, but then again, they are not hosting any games in Washington and, arguably, have the best MLS beat writer in the country so they get a pass.

The Post isn't staffing the early rounds of the Gold Cup because it takes a back seat to MLS coverage right now.

It's not a high priority.

My guess is that they'll staff the semis and/or finals if the US is in it.

The Tribune ran capsules of each team and the US roster yesterday.

The Star Tribune, which is the big newspaper in Minnesota, does a fair job of covering soccer and the national team. it doesn't get as much as other sports like football, basketball, baseball, hockey, or golf but it does provide us with some. like today they had a nice little article on Onyewu as a preview for the Gold Cup final.

Yeah, but all it takes is one lazy-ass opinion column in the Des Moines Register to cancel that out.

i thought this was about why so many threads were devoted to covering little Freddy and his latest "let's look excrutiatingly (once again) at what Adu did the last 90 minutes he's been on the field for a pro game"

Or why Cunningham needs two threads, or....

Sigh....

Never mind....carry on.....
