Taking the squad as it is right now, with no further buys or sales:
------------Robinson
Kelly---Dawson--King---Edman
Routledge-Carrick-Tainio--Ziegler
---------Kanoute--Defoe
Can bring Staltieri in for Kelly, Naybet in for Dawson, Tainio out to the left and bring Mendes or Davis into centre mid.

Same same. Though would prefer Brown over Davis and would like to see a decent bench: Huddlestone, Lennon, Keane, Mido, Cerny

Teemu is better as a right sided midfielder or wingback.
Robinson GK
Stalteri RB
Edman LB
Dawson CB
King CB
Routledge RW
Reid LW
Carrick CM
Davis CM
Defoe CF
Mido CF
Stalteri will be given his chance to start with I believe. Reid won't miss a game next season. We need a flair attacking midfielder!!! But I feel Davis will play there until we find one.

That's exactly what I'd do. With Reid on the bench or swapping for Ziegler if we need a bit of experience there.

-----------Robbo
Kelly----King--Dawson----Edman
Routledge-Carrick-Tainio--Reid
--------Defoe--Kanoute
Bench: Huddlestone, Davis/Mendes, Ziegler, Mido/Keane, Fulop
I think Tainio has that creative edge that we are missing, i'm sure he can play more of a central position.

That's what I think. The guy didn't come over from a not too shabby German side to play second fiddle to an up-and-coming player.
I am sure Jol has guaranteed him to play in the first 2 months of the season. If he applies himself, then he'll keep the position.

I don't think Jol would have guaranteed anything and he shouldn't. You can't keep playing that experience card, if Kelly doesn't play how is he going to get any experience? Kelly has proved he is good enough, as i always say every game he plays he just gets better and he also has a goal threat to his game now.

Opening day for me:
Robbo
Stalteri - King (c) - Dawson - Ziegler
Routledge - Tainio - Carrick - Reid
Defoe - Kanoute
Cerny
Davis
Mido
Naybet
Kelly
I think left back is another big issue, I think Ziegler will be starting somewhere on the left side from day one, either at LB or LW. so depending on where Jol see's Ziegler fitting in best. If Ziegler is not LB then it will be Edman.
However it really does look a reasonable team on paper! COYS!!!

I dissagree.
We need a creative/flair central midfielder so as to create a link between the midfield and attack.
Carrick is the link between the defence & midfield, so he can't do it.
We need to spend big & bring in a top name. I know how hard it is to persuade them to joing a team not in the CL, but I am sure we can find a player that is willing (Rosicky).

Tainio talks about his favoured position which is centre midfield, he says he like defending and attacking.
He also talks about him supporting Tottenham since he was 6 or 7 and his first favourite players were the same as mine- Gascoigne & Lineker.
On his training top he has the number 6 which may represent his number for the coming season.

Tainio maybe that link we have been looking for, that box to box player. Of course he has not kicked a ball for us yet, but he is saying the right things, that is what I like to see someone who is proud to say he is a Tottenham lad.

whoops! actually i meant it to be the other way.. seeing kanoute is the better ball handler. and i think its better for defoe to be running around instead of dribbling..

I have a strong feeling Kanoute will be at Man City soon. He know's Pearcy well from his days at West Ham also.
