I've never played on Xbox live bacause I had a bad experience previously with online gaming. Back in 2000 when I was living in North Carolina we finally got broadband from the cable company in the rural area where I lived. I had been playing "Age of Empires" for a while and decided to log on to Microsoft's free online are to play. I went through their settings and classified myself as a novice player, and within a couple of minutes I was invited into a team game. I partnered with one guy against 2 other guys. Here I was, building up my civilization, and I was just getting ready to advance to the 3rd civ level when...the first of what was to be 20 or so trebuchets started knocking the crap out of everything I had. I had just built my first catle and had no military to speak of and these 2 bastards just razed my city, then my teammate started giving me shit about being a lousy player.
These kids were all about 14, so I realized I had to retire from online gaming after that.
I have considered going to Xbox Live for Forza Motorsport, though, since I rule at that game.. :D
I just got Forza today!
I havent left the house since this morning and im up to level 13 now
I loveeee the game.
I have been having some fun wankeling.
I used to play Age of Empires on Zone as well
you were probably on deathmatch that they started killing so early

Steph, any luck on finding a place? We are thinking of hitting the hotel for Fri and Sat when we get in before heading out to the friends house. This way we would all be near each other before the Sp*rz match. I just started looking around but haven't figured out what part of London would be good. I guess something somewhat in the vicinity of Rick's so it is easier to meet up before the match.

It's definitely pricey.....but man was it nice. And the staff were incredible even given the fact that it was obvious we were not their usual clientele.
This place is also supposed to be very nice (a good friend stayed here last week) and not quite as pricey...although not cheap either.

Okay, this place is really nice too....and even less expensive. The problem is that it's just outside of Zone 1 so you're Tube trips will be a little more expensive.

I am looking in the Hyde Park area (mostly). Seems to be close to alot of stuff and I found a couple of places near Paddington and Victoria stations (have a list I am putting together by price and location to let Rick look over-would you like me to send it to you too?
Ash-I'll send to you also! :D

To be fair they will be going outside Zone 1 and 2 when they come to mine for the Spurs game so it isn't that much of a difference. My advice is reasnably near to a Piccadilly Line station, that way t you won't have to get up silly O'Clock to get to mine!! Kick off is early I believe.....(1pm)

I stayed there last time. It was pretty nice and in a really good area (though a Chelski area!). Like you've been warned of before, the rooms are MUCH smaller than your typical American hotel room. That and the phone charges are huge. I think it ran me about $60 for ten or so local phone calls, plus one short call to the States.
Also, if you want to save a bunch of money on the tube, I highly recommend getting a Travelcard. You can buy them in different time periods, and they make life much easier. Here's a link for more info: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/fares-tickets/2005/travelcards-visitor-travelcard.shtml

Oh, no doubt. I was only recommending staying somewhere within zone 1 based on the non-football touristy things to see and do.

Well then I suggest that we all party at Ricks place and crash there the night before-we can go to Cole's place and Rick can show us where the rest of the players live (i.e. Cesc) and then we can stay up all night and continue to drink and be in rare form for the match!
Note: I am kidding-I could not drink all night but I would be up for the party and Footie tour! ;)

Just don't get the players drinking the night before the match. I don't want them to pull a Lindros and have to sit out due to a hangov-...er..."back spasms".

Shhh don't tell my husband that! He thinks this is our 10 year anniversary trip! :D ;) What he did not realize is that the anniversary part will be sandwiched between matches! :p
