lol
i feel the WC2006 wont be the same without them
1- Pavel Nedved
what an IDIOT. Czech Republic finally became a world class team again, and he can FINALLY play in the WC and hes still great, and look what he does :D
2- Zineddine Zidane
Theres rumors hell return to help france, who are nothing now. Also retired after Euro 2004
3- Paul Scholes (only 29!)
Great midfielder, would've helped England soo much
4- Jaap Stam
Hollands defence will never be the same!
5-Maldini
Just for the heck of it, hes still awesome
6-Rivaldo
The World Cup's friend, how fun was it to watch this guy in 1998 and 2002
Figo
Hes the only smart guy ;) Hes doing good with Portugal again
Euro 2004 was a retirement house :( Cant zidane and nedved just come back
I mean the World Cup is only 1 year away, and these players know what its like to play in the WC, why do they make these decisions :D

Dude, most of these players can return if they choose to. And Scholes' role has been covered by Lampard, a worthy replacement if you ask me.

Pavel Nedved probably ended up returning to the NT before the WC Finals.

As much as I hate to say this... to be perfectly honest with you... I wouldn't be too surprised if a couple of these players were to come out of retirement and play in the WC if their teams qualified... I don't want to speculate but I have a feeling some of these guys just can't be bugged with the qualifiers.
PS: What's Henrik Larsson's situation? Has he retired from Sweden? If so, he will also be missed.

I could see Jaap Stam coming back for Holland when they qualify. Their defense is made up of young players and Van Basten would be smart to lure a solid veteran defender like Stam back to the fold.

Christian Vieri. Italy's top scorer at the last two World Cups, it always seemed like he scored in every game for Italy. But, that's when he was in the best form of his life. He's now 32 and half the player he was 3 years ago.

I wouldn't want Vieri back in the team. He was shocking at Euro 2004. Like you have pointed out, he's not as good as he used to be. I'd rather see Toni or Gilardino play upfront. Lippi should stick with them.
Nedved out of all the players mentioned, should come back. It will be great for the Czechs. Maldini is a maybe but I doubt it. Sounds interesting though I won't waste my time thinking about it.

I'm not saying I want him back on the team, I'm just saying that he's performed so well at the last two World Cups that this World Cup he might not be there.
