I didn't know that there could be any confusion.
In British English taffy is a sometimes pejorative term for a Welsh person or thing. It may be derived from the Welsh forename "Dafydd" ("David"), or a reference to the River Taff in Wales.

In American English taffy is a term for a type of chewy candy, such as salt water taffy. Taffy is made by stretching or pulling until fluffy a sticky mass of boiled sugar, butter, flavorings, and coloring. When this process is complete the taffy is cut into small pastel-colored pieces and wrapped in wax paper to keep it soft. It usually has a fruity flavor, but many other flavors are common.

Taffy is something they make in small coastal towns especially along the coasts of oregon and washington in the west of the u.s... there are taffy shops that sell hundreds of varieties...it has the consistency of bubble gum except that it is sticky. it tastes something like a glorified marshmellow...actually kids make taffy with marshmellows by twisting marshmellows several million times through their grimy little fingers. Now, could someone please tell me..Where the ******** is China?

Saltwater Taffy is great stuff, mate. The best kind is made in New Jersey, on the Shore.

Love the stuff. Unfortunately it reeks havoc on my dental work and injured jaw.
