I agree 100%. he should not be called up. But I also do not undertand what some people see in Bautista, sure he scores some cool goals once in a while, but most of the time he fails misserably, and that may be O.K during liga games, but not on the nacional team, specially when it is a game that counts.

Its just that I dont like his experiments. I just dont see us getting anywhere with like 10 defenders and Palencia up top.

let lavolpe work. its not really his fault. lets see one of u guys coach mexico. u guys wouldnt be able to change a thing. mexico needs better players. the coach doesnt really make a difference. if the players suck then the teams gonna suck.

You're right that Impaled is exagerating, but let me just say this. If Hugo had been charge of this team they would have scored 3 or more goals against Uruguay. Seriously this team was really bad. Any good team can give them a goleada if they set out to do so and im sure Mexico would have under Hugo.

1 Oswaldo Sanchez
18 Salvador Carmona
4 Rafael Marquez
5 Duilio Davino
7 Octavio Valdez
20 Ricardo Osorio
15 David Oteo
8 Pavel Pardo
19 Jaime Lozano
17 Juan Francisco Palencia
9 Jared Borgetti
Jesus Arellano # 21 por Juan Francisco Palencia # 17, m. 68
Adolfo Bautista # 10 por Jared Borgetti # 9, m. 68
Hector Altamirano # 22 por David Oteo # 15, m. 84
First off, I did not like the line-up.
Oteo and Osorio still do not convince
All week long saying his team will attack and he doesnt even **********ing advance when Urugauy is a man down???? All week long saying they are going to attack and keep the attack and play with basically 6 defenders?????
If I know Lavolpe, he wants to save Torrado for the Argentina game. Thats real smart . saving everything for one game, when it was better to take out the full arsenal against Uruguay and Ecuador.
And for the one who asked if he isnt allowed to experiment.... 2 **********ing years of piss poor experimenting... enough is enough.

You're right of course about if players suck then the teams sucks.
But the problem is that you're assuming de facto that these are the best players in Mexico. SOME are. Some can be counted amoung the best Mexico has to offer in their positions. Marquez, Sanchez, Lozano, Carmona, some others.
But the FACT is simply this, some of them are not the best, not 2nd best, nor 3rd best, not even 4th best.
There are some glaring player selection problems with Lavolpe, he has his "consentidos." I mean look at when he was constantly calling up Fernando Arce. Didi he ever produce anything??? No, but he was called into the team many many times.
Does Oteo really belong? Borgetti? Pardo? (yes I know...despite his gol... he doesn't give the team much other than a right foot every blue moon), Chiquis Garcia? (fortunately he wasn't brought to Copa but he'll be back trust me), Valdez?. Some of these and others just don't belong. They're just simply not good enough.
But there are others in the league that are crying out to be called. -That light it up sometimes and get no recognition on El Tri. -That have some of the best skills in certain areas. -Who are way more athletic.

I think this goes beyond the players that he has picked because we all have our differences. I think that Osorio, Bofo and Pardo are great players that should be on the team but some people here disagree. I dont think Bravo is good enough to be on the team but some do. I think that we can all agree and RIGHTFULLY hold it against LaVolpe that Palencia shouldnt be on this team. I will fully understand the secrets of the universe before i understand this. This guy is getting moved to the MLS!!! This should say something!!! I think that Ricardo might just be sexually attracted to the guy, this is the only plausible explanation.
But apart from Palencia, it is not the players that bothers me so much as is the attitude. You do not go out and play with 6 defenders against an inferior team, cuz thats what Uruguay was, an inferior team. Every attack by Mexico was made on the run, no set up, no possesion inthe opponent third, no wonder no one could set it up for Borgetti. If you play this defensive and get a goal scored, then something is wrong with your system. If you keep playing this defensive AND are a man up and you STILL get scored on, then there is something REALLY wrong. Its ok if he wants to play more defensive, a change from 3 in the back to 4 was good for Mexico is my opinion, but this is too much. It is just stupid. You gotta have huevos to go out there, posses the game and get some good opportunities on goal becasue the only GOOD opportunity they got was Bofos. This is what bothers me, his mentality. He used it against the U.S., and it worked, for 89 minutes. I get so irritated when Mexico plays like this, it is not only ugly but not efficient for the type of players they have. Mexico used to hold scores by possession the ball and now they do it by playing bunker ball, it is a shame.
I sometimes hope that they loose all the games so they can get the man out of there.

Well it does go beyond the players, but let me go back to that point.
There are clearly some glaring selection errors Lavolpe has made. There are clearly some very very good players back home in Mexico, that would strike more fear into opponents hearts (& of course produce more results), than what we have here.
I'm jussed p!ssed off that some of our most talented players (athletically and ball skill-wise) get left behind for some no-hopers. In fact its almost a pride thing at this point.
What must other countries think when they see that our "best" striker is Borgetti, a guy who couldn't run the 100meter dash in under 20 seconds? Who is sooo immobile that you practically have to defelct the ball off him to score, like a wooden post? Who couldn't shake a defender to save his life? Who no longer can move into enough dangerous positions, and must have the ball delivered PRECISELY to his head or you can forget about him getting to it? "This is the best Mexico has?"---some must think. Or Oteo, a very very average defender. He's the best? Or Palencia who is in terrible form, he's the best we have to offer????? Or Davino with his constant mental lapses, he's better than Joaquin Beltran at the moment!?!?!?!?!? Valdez/Oteo are better than David Mendoza?!?!?!? Insanity.
You are right about the tactics, Mexican coaches of late have seemed very fond of calling up a ton of defenders in their convocatorias and then playing with only 2 or so true midfielders and the rest defenders joining them from the back on the wings. Its getting old. I agree Lavolpe was way too conservative for this match. Its like he freaked out and said, "man this is for real, this is Uruguay not Dominica, I better throw away the progress I've made getting Bofo in the team, Torrado, etc.. and revert to a defensive line-up."

you're right about Davino. there are much better defenders that have not been called up. Joaquin Beltran should be in his place. give "Maza" Rodriguez a bit more time and he will be an awesome defender also. the team had possesion yesterday but they lacked speed. mainly in the first half. against Argentina the team should lineup Arellano, "Bofo" (even though he missed a clear gol  ), and Ramon Morales.

last night the team played horrible. i cant believe that the guys with the most expirience played like that. we can say all this and all that about lavolpe, but the only thing we can actually do right now its apoyar al tri and just let them do their work. if they come back to Mexico without the Copa America, then we can start thinking of replacing lavolpe.
