Hmm the sources are the sun and the mirror soo there's probably not too much truth in the story.. and do Chelsea really need two world class wingers on both sides of the pitch?
and okay.. I think SWP is great, but he's English.. and therefore, seriously overpriced.
I can't see how Arsenal could justify his price when they could buy two players from abroad capable of making and equal mpact for the same total transfer fee. I do hope he stays with Citeh.. as it -would- be a sting for him to goto Chelsea and my heart hopes that he would never agree to it.
Maybe if Ashburton Grove turns into the windfall we all hope it will then we can start buying English players again. Until then I think we need to concentrate on staying competive with the best buys possible... and that means staying out of the English market.

If only the Morning Star would confirm this rumor then the 3 best sources of truth would make this face.

If anyone read the arseblog today he said that on cup final day Wright said there was only one team that he would play for if he were still around today, and that was Chelsea. I never saw that quote either in print or on TV, so can anyone back this up?
Its only Ray Parlour

That isn't exactly what he said but it was along those lines. He was responding to "unfair" banners from the Arsenal fans directed at Chelsea and their riches. He said if he was playing today that he'd love to move to Chelsea.

I thought the same thing. Was thinking how could I miss a quote like that. I looked a little for it but could not find it.

He said if he was playing today that he'd love to move to Chelsea.
This is much closer to what he said.. but I remember it being back in winter and only in print.
I watched the entire fives hours of the bbc fa cup final coverage and I don't remember him bring it up again. He also almost jumped through the roof of the pundit room when we won. Maybe I'll check the tape...
But let's be honest, if you let Ian Wright talk for an hour, you could end up hearing almost anything.

surprise surprise - mirror and sun rumors might just be that.....
Manchester City have rubbished reports linking winger Shaun Wright-Phillips with a summer switch to Chelsea.
Various reports in the Saturday tabloids claimed City had agreed the £18 million sale of the England international to Chelsea.
Chelsea have money to burn and Wright-Phillips is one of the most promising players in The Premiership, while City's financial troubles are well documented.
However, the Eastlands outfit have repeatedly stated their intention to keep hold of the winger and have now scotched the talk of a deal being struck.
"Shaun has not been sold, we have received no bids for him nor will we encourage any," City's head of communications, Paul Tyrrell told the club's website.
"It is unusual for the club to comment on totally speculative stories such as these; however we want to set the record straight on this important matter.
"It is sadly predictable that tabloid newspapers publish stories during the transfer window which sometimes play fast and loose with the facts."

Maybe I'll check the tape...
Heh, and so I have.. following is a transcript....
---
(Clip of Gary Lineker interviewing Mourinho for a plug for 'The Special One' Doctumentary)
Gary: We're all special in this world and he has got something about him.
Ian: He's brilliant, I just love him, you know I love about him is the way the players, that's not false, when he's in and around the players, they really love him. I think you mustn't confuse his confidence with arrogance. He is just good at what he does and he knows it.
Gary: Some Arsenal fans I here, don't agree with you.
(clip of banner saying "CHELSKI! YOU BOUGHT THE TITLE BUT YOU CAN'T BUY HISTORY" with a line of drawn AFC trophys below it)
Gary: There you go, "you bought the title but you can't buy history", but I think you can make history though and he's on the way to doing that.
Ian: That's a little unfair to everybody. You get at the top of the premiership at some stage weigh some money in to buy the title. That's rubbish. Just because you know Abramovich it's not a secret that he's got a couple quid so he's ploughing it into Chelsea. But everybody at the top has bought the top players to win the title. That's rubbish.
Alan: He's made them into a great team.
Ian: Exactly, you can have alot of money and buy the wrong players.

Oh Ian, how you've got it so wrong!
That quote Arseblog is speaking about did happen though.. some time ago.

LOL you're kidding me right? What rumors that they've talked about have actually come true? They're not reliable just like 90% of the other English rags aren't.

Hummm yeah I guess if you think that taking credit for stories that EVERYONE else reports on is "being reliable" than ok...The Sun isn't reliable at all but like I said, think what you want to, it's quite humorous. I can't think of one transfer story they've actually correctly predicted, some of them are so friggin' ludicrous it makes me laugh.
