Apologies if this has already been asked and answered but ...

I keep noticing that Vieira has some sort of gunk on his shirt just below the neck line. I've also seen another Arsenal player afflicted with the same gunk (can't remember which - possibly Henry).
Haven't seen it in any other teams, mind you I haven't searched that hard.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the purpose of the said gunk is? Moreover, what is the said gunk? I though team spirit would be relatively high at Arsenal at the moment, but I wouldn't like it to be taken too far :)

This oughtta be in a FAQ. Anyway, it's like Vicks Vap-O-Rub, and it's on there to make it easier to breathe. Not just Arsenal players use it - I saw Paul Merson using it recently, and others who I can't remember.

Ah right, so I gather it's a question that's been asked before. Had a quick scout round here for the appropriate answer but didn't find it.

I notice he's actually sniffing it in your avatar. Must have a bad cold or something. You'd have thought his mum would have written him a note excusing him from gym.

Yeh, I was joking.
But I do get your point about the new crest. Indicative of the supposed 'dumbing down' that's meant to be afflicting this country.

It's something that Wenger "discovered" when he was coaching in Japan and brought it over to Highbury.
I recall it being mentioned a few seasons ago, but can't remember the full details now, but I believe its to help with breathing.

Come on, I thought everyone knew that it was Viera's chronic 'drinking' problem. This would also explain the aforementioned gunk all over Merson's shirt as well, although strangely not Big Tone...
