Bayren Munich for years has used the Bundesliga as its own personal transfer market. It looks like Lyon is doing the same thing now in their league.

Interesting idea for a thread, I don't really know what to say except for...... Yes.

If it's cheaper for Lyon to buy from Ligue 1 than EPL, Serie A, La Liga, etc. then it's smart for them. They also know the player they get will easily adapt on the field.

Yeah, and if it means anything, it can only
be a good thing: more money for clubs in
L1 (tv deal) means it could become less
of a "feeder league", the better players
could "stick around" and make for more
consistent clubs.
Or am I not making any sense? ;)

No, actually that makes perfect sense. The EPL is buying players from outside their league and thus the LEAGUE is hemoriging funds to foreign league's.

Well they might as well. There are a number of good young players in France from France and Africa, so why not.

Olympique Lyon is following a carbon copy of the Bayern Munich blueprint!!!
Bayern is the club that starts every season as faves to life Bundesliga...Lyon is fast becoming that team in France!!!
The attraction of Lyon is also fast becoming the attraction which Bayern has long held. Players in Ligue 1 are now leaving there clubs with the mentality we'll only leave for foreign clubs or Lyon...
To back this point up who'd believe Oympique Marseille (a massive club in Ligue 1) would lose their best player to an inner league team. Sounds extremely like the Bayern situation with players like Michael Ballack leaving then UCL runners up Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
Exceptional point! Reputation WORTHY!!!

a very good point. and it has to do as much with players' attitudes as anything. a baros turning up his nose at OL (big mistake) is understandable for someone who knows nothing about L1, but players who are already in france know OL is a club with top to bottom class.

What Nirvaan said. I agree with totally except that PEdretti is NOT/WAS not L'OM's best player though. Not at all.
It was weird the move though and just shows how great Lyon is becoming. Must be burning PSG and L'OM fans now :) to see they have a real long-term rival now it seems for many years to come hopefully.
