Apparently Sven has asked the USA to step in after France pulled out.

Australia or Denmark are the likely opponents, France were never considered so I don't know where this has come from.

There are published reports (soccer365.com, etc.) of the USSF's attempt to arrange a match with England, but I've yet to hear word of this from the English side. Hence, we can put this under the 'Rumor' rubric for the moment, can we not?

That said, I, and many other U.S. fans, would anticipate this match more so than against any other world opponent. England has been pure class for so long.

Sorry I have no links. I just read it in one of the Sunday Rags this morning.

Oh that's OK then. If only Group A counts then I can claim that England were the third best team in the tournament. Cheers.

If this comes off, my wife and I will be there.

Sounds like a good opportunity to have our wedding anniversary & second honeymoon somewhere, and be able to catch a game while we're at it. :)

Cheers,
William

Yeah, rainy Manchester in February. Nothin' says lovin' like a second honeymoon in Northern England.

We're newlyweds. Doesn't matter to us. ;)

Can't be any worse than a Ballarat winter... and the cold weather here, it's legendary. Ask any Aussie.

Cheers,
William

Check your PM, BabyTiger...

Nothin' like a Ballarat winter, I must admit...

Saw it, and thanks for writing. I'll write you back tomorrow... our bedtime soon here.

And nothing like a Ballarat spring, either. We got some heavy rain last week (which just about all of Australia needs right now, in fact), but this week, it's sunny and gorgeous. So to sum up, and if I may steal a quote that one BigSoccer regular used to have in his signature, I'll take the rain, and the cold, for that matter. :)

Back on topic, is there any confirmation to the rumours surrounding who England might play in February-- whether it be the USA, the Socceroos, or other teams? Post your links, please...

Cheers,
William
