Here I am in Las Vegas and every hotel has this incredible amount of giant screen showing sporting events, all from baseball to tennis to dog racing, and I was sure I would get to watch the Confederations Cup in style. I know this is not exactly the WC, but surely with all the Casinos and their Sports books, they would be showing the matches, right?
Wrong. They have no clue it's even going on. I went to Caesars Palace, Harrah's, all the top hotels, and nothing. I asked the lady at the sportsbook if I could place a bet on the confederation cup and she looked at me like I'm from another planet. 'The what?' she asked. I said, 'you know, the tournament in Germany, soccer'. Oh yes, she said with a smile, and gave me a sheet with odds for next year's World Cup. That's it.
Damn! I guess thanks to Bigsoccer and all the great discussions we have with fans who know and love the game, (and some who don't know it but argue anyway), I forgot that I was in an alien country when it comes to the greatest sport of all. I forgot I was in the (bleep) United States of America.
Now I'm pissed. I'm limited to watching whatever Univision shows, in my Hotel room.
Can somebody tell me when is this country going to wake up to soccer?

I have limited Internet access. I didn't bring my laptop. Oh well. I'll read what people here have to say about the games.

FSC in a hotel room? I got FSW in one once but they're not gonna show all soccer all the time in a hotel room.

You should be out playing craps, blowing coke off of the supple ass of a hooker, dancing on the plexiglass part of the roof at SkyBar, and going to the buffet at the Rio 'cause it's a damned good one. Not watching soccer.

You have to go to bars that show the game. You can pretty much get any match you want to see in the USA - but you have to pay the price for it whether it be a package from cable or whatever satellite provider you use. You can scoff at it now, but 10 years ago, they would've laughed at you the moment you said "socc...."
Bigsoccer's not a reflection of the general US sports public. The overwhelming majority could give two $hits about the sport. Which makes any success that their team does that much more impressive.

Well what did you expect? The amount of sh!t the average amercan could give for soccer is not measurable by current technology, and Vegas caters to the lowest possible common denominator in this country.
Personally, I say ******** em, let them waste their time at McDonalds and Wal Mart, makes for more room at the bar for me (metaphorically speaking). Call it a sort of sporting darwinism.
