Good article...

From no-name to rookie star

Yes indeed... I think the odds of him getting rookie of the year are pretty damn good.

Thanks for the post.

Bobby 'Bozilla' has been a pleasure to watch this year. I thought he had an outstanding second half against NE on saturday. He was just cleaning up everything that went in the box.

I think he is going to get better and better. Ryan Nelson was a special player but Bobby has lessened the pain of losing him.

Interesting point:

Boswell focused on some unique playing opportunities overseas. This included a training stint with Manchester City that was set up by his youth coach, NASL veteran Steve Wegerle.

So we can indirectly thank a Wegerle for Boz. While Roy's out there trying to be a golfer, Steve putting effort back into the system.

If there is a bigger indictment of the ODP system out there than Boswell's path, please someone point me in that direction...

I'm liking him more and more.

Not just that, but an indictment of the Eurosnobbery of people like the Wegerles. Bobby was co-county player of the year with Bryce Wegerle. Bobby has trained at Man City and in Denmark. Bryce Wegerle has been over to a couple of places in Europe.

Where did that get them? Good thing that Bobby seems to have a great head on his shoulders and knows that an opporunity anywhere is an opportunity. Hopefully more and more Bobby Boswells will get the recognition they deserve.

Interesting read.

I for one am grateful that Boswell did come into view, no matter the path.
His experiences seem to serve him well, as illustrated by his play.
Boz has been a great addition to the team. In view of his age, and rookie status, I am more than willing to give him time to develop his leadership over this season. That is a PROCESS that just plain takes time and experience.
In the mean-time, I wish him continued success.

I know this photo has been seen but it deserves to be in this thread as well. I believe he cemented his place in the line up this whole past week and couldn't have topped it off in a better way. This kid has my ROTY vote, and it's only June.

Clearly this guy has character. And he's calm, cool and collected when playing. Good to have him on the good buys in black.

Yeah, but have you noticed that Moreno doesn't pass the ball to him? :D

Like Gros was last year, this kid comes in and plays like a vet (for the most part). Of course if he keeps playing like this one wonder how long before he gets a call from Il Bruce.

Great article. BOSSwell, is what I gonna call him. From what I've seen of him, he commands his backline and reads the game extremely well. Patience is the key to reading the game and he's picked that up quickly. His attitude is great and seems to show passion based on that picture above. In the end it doesn't matter how you get there as long as you made it. You guys really have a gem with BOSSwell and I'm excited to watch him grow.

Of course, I hope when the Crew play him, he leaves a gaping hole in the middle, so we can destroy you guys. Shite, on second thought, he could leave a gaping hole and we still would have trouble putting the ball away :)

Is it Eurosnobbery or is it a lack of recognition in the US soccer system?

I can't blame Boz for wanting to train with Man City or for Wegerly giving him the oppourtunity. I bet there are tons of players in the US who would give their right foot to do the same.

I can sort of see your point about mabye Roy Wegerly's belief that players couldn't get proper training here in the U.S. - Now that is Eurosnobbery - But I would place more of the blame on the US soccer system if they don't recognize that a team like Man City wouldn't train just anyone and may indicate that a player has some quality.

What do you think? Or did I miss your point? Please correct me if I did.

Anyway .... Bozz gets props.

My point is that the U.S. system failed, but it doesn't help when you have coaches who - at least to me - seem more intent on getting players trials in Europe than directing them toward the pro system in the U.S.
