Arsenal-Mania is reporting that the Hleb deal is being held up because we've supposedly made an offer for SWP and waiting to see if City are willing to sell or not...

Arsenal bid for SWP holding up Hleb deal

LONDON (ARSENAL-MANIA) - Arsenal-Mania has learned that an offer for Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips is currently holding up the Hleb deal.

With both players playing in the same position [on the right of midfield], it seems that Arsenal want to wait to see if Manchester City are willing to sell.

Whilst the bid from Arsenal is considerable, there has also been an offer from Chelsea, and Manchester City are considering both bids.

For his part, Shaun Wright-Phillips has indicated to the City board that he wants a move to Arsenal.

WE will update this as we learn more.

I say buy 'em both...play Hleb in the Bergy role, SWP on the right...I could def. go for that.

Well I hope Arsenal don't wait too long on both and then lose them both! Some interesting prospects with Hleb, SWP, and Guti on the horizon.

Interesting thoughts on SWP-he and Freddie play such dif. styles on the right-would be interesting if we got a "target" man too.........

Glad AW is finally addressing our problem areas.

Anxious we sign a CF who can head the ball. We desperately need a 'Trezeguet' in our team.

SWP/Hleb to provide the amo.

CL teams & Manu have found us out so many times by simply packing the midfield, forcing us wide ...knowing full well we present no aerial threat in the box...shd the ball come in.

We need to get a big time CF, I shudder think wot our league position will be shd Henry get injured!!!

1.we don't need a CF
2. Hleb isn't a winger
3. we don't do well in europe because of our defensive record away.
4. by the looks of it, not much different.

Hleb and SWP are so different that i dont see how they can be grouped together. They could both have a role in our setup, however, i guess that is asking to much of our transfer kitty to get both. surely SWP doesnt want to play 15 matches a year at chelsea when he can be a regular with the arsenal (and win more trophies ;))

1. Yes... yes you do... what's your depth chart at forward?
2. No, be he can play at RM effectively enough... but hey... dont let me stop you from talking yourselves out of getting him.
3. that's true, however... having more than one mode of attack would also help.
4. really? You think Reyes and Bergkamp could take u to 2nd?

Missing a few games and missing most of the season is not the same... if he were to miss a signficant part of the season in the early going things would be rough, to say the least. Again though... dont let me talk you lot out of getting some adequate back up or an actual real life CF.

we have plenty of cover in henry's position. what we don't need however is a typical english CF, that's not our style. and no we don't rely on henry asmuch as you think.

btw - i didn't say hleb couldn't play there, the fact is it's not his natural position.

Well....although some of us may act like it....none of us have a direct line to Wenger or Mr. Dein so what we think/want/pray for really doesn't matter.
