Thoughts.
I watched Guti play for Madrid last season and he was pretty good. My chances to watch Madrid were early in the season and before Graveson got there. Madrid weren't going particularly well and I honestly wasn't looking out for Guti so I don't recall at lot. With Figo, ZZ, Beckham, Graveson, midfield got crowded out and Guti was on the bench.
He's 28 and been with Madrid his entire career. This might be the type player that Freddie mentioned, one with experience at a big club and one with throphies. With Edu leaving, it would be nice to have a player with this experience to play with Vieria, Gilberto, and Freddie (assuming Bobby leaves which hopefully won't happen) to go along with the younger players.
Anyone know much of Guti?

I know there is a transfer thread and this was well discussed, I'm trying to start something Arsenal and football related so help a brother out here.

as I mentioned in the transfer thread ;) I would love to see Guti at Highbury. He's experienced, a playmaker, has a killer shot, and wants to be a part of AW's team....full disclosure, don't know waaay to much about Baptista but the word round here seems to be overwhelmingly positive...

best player to come out of the real madrid youth system last 10 years. i real play regularly and he's been (IMO) their best player the last two years. so, i'm all for it. excellent news.

Would love this to happen, but my Spider-sense it tingling, so just don't see it panning out.

This is a good development. I like him more than I think I like Edu. I think.
Is the Trezeguet rmor dead?

As I have stated in the transfer thread I think Guti would be a great addition and could do nothing but help the squad. I say bring him in 110%

guti, along with others like morientes and portilla, really suffered from madrid's moronic 'galactico' policy. undoubted quality, but insufficient starpower. unless you prefer revenue to trophies, florentino perez is an idiot.

The "word" is that he wants to come to Arsenal, but who knows if it is true. The only issue I see is that he is upset with being on the bench once Graveson arrived, and since he is "replacing" Edu (who left b/c he was on the bench and not a starting XI), will he get the playing time he wants? Or will the likes of Cesc and other youngsters move back in the lineup.
Either way, Guti will bring valuable experience and depth to the club that is need now Edu is gone.

I agree completely. However as good as Cesc is he is still very young, and starting every match may be asking a little too much. I think starting Guti and having Cesc and Flamini to replace anyone in the midfield would be a great setup.

Yep. I just hope Cesc continues to get a good amount of pitch time after all the work and improvement he gained last year. Hate for it to fade some! But as you and others say, Guti would be a great addition.

Might even be good for Cesc to learn behind Guti (or along sides, whichever you prefer)...

Not much Cesc can learn from a player he's already better than.

Better, equal, or lesser than, you can always learn and teach something.

I'm a big Cesc fan, but this goes a little too far. Cesc has worked the holding mid position admirably for his age. Guti, by contrast, is an attacking mid known for his clutch goal scoring. He's more in the mold of a Pires than an Edu. Either way, could be a very welcome addition.

I am up fer this Guti move.. of course, i havent heard a peep that WE are interested in him.. so who knows. hopefully, this is an inexpensive purchase and doesnt hinder our chances on other (bigger) named players.

I heard a value of £9M in some article.. surely that is way too high for him.
If it is in that £5M range.. cant let this nugget slip away.
