Thanks for the info anyhow. I'd never used German Google. It will help in the future when I'm trying to find information.

I dont think so, cos the DFB has a list of all the games.
in 1950 there was only one game:

So the Ireland story has to be hoax.

B does not logically follow A. It's a decent conclusion, but it is not definitively described by the facts given.

Not all games involving federations or national teams are recognized in the list of "official games". It's possible that some German "team" played an Ireland "team" in the aftermath of the war. It's not necessary that those "teams" be the full "National Teams" for the story to be true.

That said, the facts, as they are shown in this thread so far, make a decent - but non-definitive - case against the Ireland story.

A logical member in the thread and a Ronco fan to boot...

At this point I'm inclined to believe that the green kit was originally based on nature/forests.

Yep. A Reisepass is red.
Right! But iirc they used to be green for quite some time. They changed it to read in the 80s or 90s.

West German passports issued before unification were green.

That's right! Now that I think of it, my ex-wife and I got married two months before The Wall fell. And her passport was green.

Yep, the old German driver licenses used to be green, too.
I personally think that there has to be something with the Ireland game, don't know what exactly though...

So that settles it...Deutschland worn green as their away kits for all these years to match their passports...There has to be someone on the board old enough to know the reason why.

Also, maybe someone can confirm this additional info for me...If I can recall they also wore blue (navy) shirts at one point also as an away kit (and no I am not confused with the former DDR). Additionally their track suits were a light blue at some point in the 70's.

Bah, I don't even have a passport now - how should I remember how they looked 15 years ago? ;) And until 1984 I was a citizen of the German Democratic Republic anyway :D.

Pretty sure their tracksuits were light blue for ARG 78.

I can't recall them ever wearing navy blue as an away kit though personally. But then again I've forgotten most things from the '70s!!!!

I found this shirt
https://www.toffs.com/stock/3093LG.gif
and it sais that this is a "Deutschland 1974" jersey and the badge definitely is not a GDR one.

But I've never seen any footage or pictures of a Nationalmannschaft wearing blue.
