"When you have a source of vibration, like people jumping up and down, the way the structure responds, vibrates, and what levels of vibration are acceptable - all of these three things are not really well understood."

perhaps some engineering or architecture-type folks can come do their thesis on RFK while it is still here :)

I don't know, too much more vibration and teh whole place might fall down. Remeber the pieces of concrete that fell down a few years ago!!!

Oh theres plenty of those pieces of concrete still falling. I just have not seen or heard of it happening in the seating areas lately. Mostly walking up the ramps to the 400's. Ive come across quite a bit of concrete debris that were laying on the ground (ramp surface) and you could clearly see where it had fallen from above. Ive run across this sevearl times so far this season, at Nationals games.
Ive also touched a few spots on walls that looked like it was very fragile, and of course a decent sized peice of concrete sloughed off.
I can also tell you that while sitting in row 1 of the 400s in the outfield ( I think it was section 451 or 452 that there are pretty decent sized chunks of concrete that are cracked and appear to be on the verge of just falling off of the ledge if its touched or otherwise disturbed.
