I reckon we should have bought him instead of that Swedish guy. Unfortunately he was good against Arsenal today. Dammit, I missed count on how many Arsenal goals he saved. Capital radio has named him as the Man of the Match, but he was good.
How did you American guys felt when you had to support the other team (Arsenal) against your American friend? ;)

Coming from the biggest Brad Friedel fan (me ;)) I was completely impressed with his play today. He was simply stellar and denied ANYTHING that came his way, aside from that sneaky free kick in the 45th minute :p
Arsenal just seems to be down recently, and they went up against a hot Blackburn team today. It doesn't help when Friedel is playing out of his freaking skull.

Didn't feel anyway about supporting against Friedel. Arsenal is the team that I support. Period. Could've been my brother in the opposing team's goal. I was impressed with his perfomance in the World Cup this summer, and I was impressed with his performance Saturday. He's a helluva keeper.
Also, Dwight Yorke , who scored the winning goal is from Trinidad and Tobago. So is my family, and I lived there for six years. I've seen the likes of him, Russel Latapy and Stern John in inter-collegiate play back in the 80's and it makes me proud to see someone from Trinidad make it big. Nonetheles I was cursing out Yorkie when he scored.
I don't agree that Blackburn as a team were hot. They allowed twenty-something shots? Half of them were saved by, who has to be, Player of the Week. The other half were simply thrown away. The game seemed to be Arsenal's to lose, and we lost.

It's my opinion, though, that the 20-something shot advantage that Arsenal had over Blackburn was a result of Blackburn on the road, sitting on a lead, knowing they had Friedel back there.

Friedel played well, all credit to him. However, when our strikers are one on one with any goalkeeper, they should score. When our strikers have good chances from 10 yards or less, they should score. Messrs Henry and Wiltord were the main culprits yesterday, but it has been a theme for the past few years that we are not clinical enough in front of goal. It's in spite of this that we have won 2 doubles in the past 4 years.

I'm club over country so I was wishing for a Brad Friedel own-goal hattrick or at least to play one of the worst games of his career. Unfortunately, that was not to be and he played very well. Although, Arsenal seemed to make it easy on him with shots close to Friedel. Of course, with Brad's size, much of the goal is "close to him".

I honestly think he wouldn't have moved. He is very close to Souness, who brought him to Liverpool, Galatasaray and Blackburn, he wouldn't be guarunteed a starting place, and Blackburn would have fought like lions to keep him.
On the game, if Brad wasn't in goal, Arsenal would have won without a doubt. From the highlights I saw, it was all Arsenal, and it was just one of those incredibly frustrating games. I also think that Bergkamp should get a retrospective ban for stamping on Johansson, and Flitcroft's red card should be repealed. Luck was with Blackburn, as the muffed clearence by Taylor shown, and Arsenal are just going through a little blip.

Souness would NEVER let Friedel go, unless you like gave him half the team ;)
For those who didn't know, apparently Friedel played the game with a torn ligament (popped out pregame) and will require surgery down the road.
The fact that Brad played WITH the torn ligament, and still was able to play like he did, only makes him more impressive.

No problems at all wishing for 3 or more against Freidl which is what was needed last year to beat him. All praise should be given to Brad but Arsenal can blame themselves just as much. The shot positioning was poor and we never made Freidl truly stretch to save one.

One last thing, I don't buy the 'Arsenal have blown it' line some are adopting. I think you'll be either 1st or second (Liverpool being the other team up there) by the end of the season.

Did anyone one say Arsenal has blown it? 4 points isnt a mountian and there is a lot of games to go. Remember 1998!

Brad Friedel was outstanding yesterday and we really dont want him at Arsenal...he's a bit too old. We could have had Rustu but now we have to wait until the end of the current season

I sense an undercurrent of 'Are Arsenal really good enough ?' after the seemingly invincible aura they had prior to the Everton game. Some of that may be put down to the hype that surrounded Arsenal, and the sudden bursting of that bubble, but some of the people with a goldfish mindset are starting to murmur these sentiments. I agree, to say you've blown it is ridiculous to put it mildly.

Brad Friedel has just been named as the goalkeeper in the "Premiership Team of the Week". On current performances I'm sure he will feature more.
Any odds on who gains more nominations, Seaman or Friedel by the end of the seaon?

Brad has a long way to go in his career. Don't be surprised if he's starting for the US in 06

Just finished watching "The Premiership" T.V. highlights of all the games, and Friedel was again in exceptional form for Blackburn against Southampton making some great saves again. Undoubtably the best 'keeper in the EPL at present.

Seaman. Swan Song.
