Its raining now, so i'm gonna go down to the gym in a bit. I saw your question about yossarian's avatar, i asked him a while ago and its Jeff Tweedy from Uncle Tupelo (great band) and Wilco (pretty good).

mmmmm good idea! I think I'll have strawberry cheesecake. Although the best kind I ever had was at a Ben & Jerry's and it was blackberry cobbler (It was their special that day or something). It was fabulous, and I have never seen it since.

Killer!!

Loved Rage and Soundgarden and like the new stuff as well. Saw them at Lollapalooza or whatever it was called last year? Anyway, good show. During Janes though, the kid next to me kept griping about the old stuff and wanted to hear the new MTV song. Once they played that, he left! Nothing like a little "3 Days"!!

Well without delving into personal issues too much.....let's just say that both my wife and I have been close to people with issues similar to Cobain's. It's rather complicated but you eventually come to the conclusion that they're ill.....but the mind isn't so easily fixed unfortunately.

I'm 2nd'ing this... Having someone you know well commit suicide, then I find it very hard to blame anyone when they take the 'easy' way out by killing themselves...

I agree....and in Kurt's case, his security net just wasn't in tune with him...can't believe his manager/record co/band mates/wife weren't more intune to where Kurt's mind was...and if they were, they should have not let him be by his lonesome....

Again, you'd be amazed how hard this is sometimes...

Not to be a dick, but i suspect his wife drove him to it. According to some stories, he wanted a divorce and was really depressed. I just picture her on the other end of the phone telling him that he didn't have the balls to kill himself. Really. I hate Courtney Hole.

Well, the cynic in me wonders whether the money people knew of his situation, but thought that by 'sectioning' / locking him up, they would stop his creative flow, and took the risk that everything would be alright and he'd be writing plenty more albums...

To be honest I dont know enough of his situation. I do know that suicidal people are generally mentally ill, and their justifications and reasonings are totally skewed, and being able to leave loved ones behind is a decision that they would not make, should they be mentally 'fit'...

I agree, suicidal people are almost always mentally ill, unless they are suffering from a terminal disease that makes death an attractive option. But i don't discount the depression that is associated with drug abuse as a cause in many suicide deaths either. I've heard that drug use is a factor in the majority of suicides.
BTW, this is a depressing subject.
