I think Kurt was incredibly talented.....and thought so before he died. Nirvana made some incredibly powerful music, IMHO. As for his death...maybe I'm a bleeding heart but I think it was tragic. Depression like he suffered is an illness just like heart disease....and in some cases just as hard to treat.
Not bashing you Steph. I have no problems with people who don't like him for purely musical taste reasons.

Damn Phishy-just saying that a lot of talent musicians have died recently-just don't think Cobain should be put on a pedestal (sp?)-that's all! :(

Well without delving into personal issues too much.....let's just say that both my wife and I have been close to people with issues similar to Cobain's. It's rather complicated but you eventually come to the conclusion that they're ill.....but the mind isn't so easily fixed unfortunately.

you know, you would think it would be something I like...I used to work at Blockbuster Music - on of my coworkers was a huge blind fan- used to make us listen to the selftitled (of which I had on tape) and "Soup" all the time....maybe I just didn't connect with it then...will take a re-listen and see where I stand...
for the record, I have nothing bad to say 'bout Blind Melon, just they didn't take me "there" the way Air Supply did ;)
Gotcha, you should have seen them live though, they were pretty much a jam band live. I saw them the week their first album came out and they show was great. They did "Time" from the album in an extended 15 minute version that was really cool. Speaking of cool, sometimes i won't like a band simply because i don't think they're cool. Coldplay is a good example, the music is pretty good, but the band is just so uncool, i would never allow myself to be a fan.

And I am not trying to make light of Cobains issues-its more the irresponsible parent thing that makes me lose respect for him-that taints my picture of him.......

I agree....and in Kurt's case, his security net just wasn't in tune with him...can't believe his manager/record co/band mates/wife weren't more intune to where Kurt's mind was...and if they were, they should have not let him be by his lonesome....
however, I do understand what Steph is saying b/c his daughter (Francis Beane?) is going to be one effed up kid....doesn't help she has a whore-b!tch-druggie-felon mother....
