Late in the game (80th minute or so) there was a huge bust up in or around section 213-214/313-314. It looked at one point like several guys were stomping on someone. They all had on green shirts, but someone pointed out that there was a giveaway so they were probably wearing those. This seemed to go on for some time and seemed pretty violent. They were knocking lumps out of the blue and yellow shirts who were trying to break it up. As I said it seemed to go on for a while and I don't think I saw the police show up at any point. I did see some medical folks come after about 5 minutes maybe.

Any idea what took place. I noticed it was above the La Norte section (I don't think they were involved this is just a geographical reference). It seemed weird as the game was pretty mellow and there's never been that much interfan tension (RDA years excepted) during Revs matches. The apparent complete absence of police was strange. We looked around and only saw one officer field side.

Forgive my not-with-it-ness, but what's aggro? I expected to read about a an AGricutural major or a new plant species discovered at RFK...

I too saw this right w hen it started. I couldnt make out what exactly was going on other than a rather severe beating, that looked to me like it involved anywhere from 5-15 people at varying points, perhaps more?

I took a few photos of it, but being in 134, even with the camera fully zoomed it didnt get THAT close. I have yet to go back and look at those pics.

I too am curious as to what all that was about.

yeah, I sit in 216. I an pretty sure this was not a fan rivalry situation...just two bunches of young drunk guys that got into it. The thing that amazed me was how slow and do-nothing the CSC were. I know this has been commented o0n this board many times before but it was truly amazing how dim witted the "security folks" were. This was a really, really bad fight-that comment coming from someone who grew up going to New York Rangers hockey games in the cheap seats. Three guys were pounding the crap out of this one guy for easily a minute. Whaling on him and the CSC folks were standing back saying things like "hey, cut it out." It took at least five minutes for the cops to show up and when they did they made no effort to figure out what happened, or to arrest or detain the folks who did the beating. The best (worst) part was some CSC lady screeching at this bloody guy who got beat up, after it all happened. Jesus, are those CSC people junkies?

it may well be that CSC were told not to get involved physically but to wait for the cops. i don't know this to be true, but it might be, i know CSC has gotten in trouble in the past with claims from fans against them.

NOUN: Chiefly British Slang 1. Aggressive or violent behavior. 2. Irritation or exasperation: “Postponing new hospitals and roads causes far less aggro than sacking town hall or Whitehall workers” (Economist).
ADJECTIVE: Slang 1. Aggressive or violent. 2. Daring and skillful, especially in a sport such as surfing.
ETYMOLOGY: Short for aggravation and aggression.

THat may be true and then it is the cop's fault. I was just amazed. I have never in the States seen it take so long to break up a bad fight. The fight basicially stopped when the guys were tired of punching.

I was doing my * free beer rounds * during the first half of the game and stopped in La Norte and was talking to other supporters when CSC was doing a ticket check??..they went from row to row checking tickets and making folks leave the section..Of course I just ignored them when they asked me to leave... :D

...Not sure what was their deal but they were really being d|cks!!!...

La Norte had a nice full section going and they were rocking!!

I really couldn't tell what was happening. My angle was really low. I took a bunch of shots of a bunch of people looking at something. Then about five-ten minutes later after a couple folks had been dragged off and the crowd more or less dispersed, I saw this guy. I don't know what eventually happened. I don't know if they were waiting for medical staff, or he was resisting arrest or what.

At first, I thought there was some bust up over the shirts being thrown into the crowd. But I really don't know.

They used to give away pizzas at Clash games. I remember being at one in 98 or 99 and they announced what section. It happened to be in the north end where the Casbah is. This guy comes running out the tunnel with a stack of five or six pizza boxes. He was immediatly set upon like starving wolves on a wounded deer. Most of the pizza boxes were mangled up and caught in tug-of-war battles.

I swear, I thought turkeys could fly. :)

I was in the Mandalay Sports Book in Vegas about 4 years ago for the NFL playoffs. There was a two-on-one situation that went on for about 5 minutes before the cops showed up. I mean, it lasted so long people were giving odds on it. Doesn't surprise me that the DC cops were dragging ass getting there.

RFK is not known as a stronghold of stadium security - stadium usher arrogance, maybe, but their concept of security is just getting surly with people from my experience.
