As this wont be stateside until early next year, I sincerely hope (okay, fervently pray) that there's a 360 version in the works. It doesn't need too many more bells and whistles, I'll take a crappy(ish) port.

I'm also hoping that the 'Nippon Challenge' is opened up to include other countries in the Euro/US releases. WE with a 'Road to the World Cup' section (easily the best FIFA) would rule from on high.

Willing to bet Nippon Challenge is dropped for the North American release, as well as online play.

I wish there was online , is it that hard to make the game online in North America. I also hope there is a xbox 360 version.

I seriously hope it's online in North America. I love WE8 even though it's not online. WE8 totally kicks FIFA's arse!!

I recently got WE8I for PC and have modded an xbox controller w/ a USB plug in to my PC for online games. I just need to get past my router or firewall more consistently to get some games in.

What new teams are there? Hopefully they have added more African teams as Ghana, Angola, Togo, Zambia, and especially Cote d'Ivoire have shown they are just as good as, if not better than, the teams who are already in the game. I'd also like to see Lithuania, Kuwait, Bahrain, Belarus, and ANY new CONCACAF teams, but I doubt we will. :(

I had to manually create Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Georgia in WE8 (those were the only 3 nations who didn't have national teams but had 11 or more players in the game from their countries). While that makes it a little better, I can't use these teams in tournaments, so I can only use them in exibition games. :(

Can anyone shed some light on why certain features are eliminated from the North American version of WE games? WE8I had no online play for PS2, for example. It's bad enough that games are released here after they hit both Japan and Europe, but worse that they don't have the same features. What is Konami's purpose in marketing inferior/outdated products to the US?

Don't flame me; I'm a big fan of WE. I just want to know why they can't simply make one version of a game, and sell it to everyone at the same time. It would seem to make good business sense to do so.

That's the only thing I can think of recently that's been 'excluded'. From what I managed to glean from t'web, PS2 did not have online in the US and Europe because Konami weren't happy with implementing it as it wasn't polished enough. There's not the infrastructure that Live has. As for the XBox and Live in Europe but not US, I reckon it was a similar reason. When it was first released for XBox in Europe, the online implementation got a lot of flak for being substandard (plus the game was a port, not built from the ground up for Xbox), so rather than take more time to tweak it for the US or risk more complaints, they canned it.

From what little I've heard of WE9, the devs are set on having online for every iteration, US, Europe, Japan, XBox, PS2.

I hope this is true. I need new competition in this game. My friends can't compete with me. I truly enjoy this game when playing against real-life opposition and not the computer a.i. We could get some Big Soccer tournaments going.

If WE9 is online in the US, I may never sleep again!! Work would become obsolete and my wife can just pay all the da#$ bills!!! I do want to see more teams, but I realize licensing goes along way in that regard.

One good thing about the game being released after 1/1/06 in the US is we get the updated transfers, LOL!! But I don't want to wait that long.

Don't count on it. Every version of WE: I so far has been more or less a straight port of PES with no updates.

Didn't WE8 have the January xfers in it? I thought it did whereas the PES4 version was based on the opening day rosters. I could be wrong. Maybe it was the early xfers it had, either way I am looking forward to WE9 and it's online play (pray).

I wish I had a DVD burner. I could just download the game, patch it, and play.

For all of those that do want the game on it's August 4th release date, it's available for pre order at www.play-asia.com

My friend Tak, played a beta version of it. The graphics have not changed that much, but the player animantions have changed (as always with each installment.)

Will be in Europe by the 28th of October-ish.

Still no definite word if they include the EPL licences or not. I don't think they will. On-line play WILL be on this version. I'm sure of it. They made the claim last year, and it was on the Liveware version.

Well, regadless this will be the last incarnation on the PS2.

We can only hope, the boys at Konami have a monster lined up for the PS3 in 2006.

Spanish second division?!? Am I reading that right?

You never know about other licences. We just have to hope they get a last minute deal or something. Its not unheard of. Licenses are not top priority for the Japanese market. Its the quality of the gaming.

If Nippon Challenge manifested itself into a RTWC98 thing - I would be in Konami's debt.

That would seriosuly kick arse.

Doubt it will make European release though.

Shame. :(

Also - I wish they would import some of the J-League teams in there. They have the license to put them in. They usually release a seperate game called J-League WE Asian championship.

Also if they converted the Master League into what is the current WE tactics game - we will have a sure fire winner on our hands!!
