Is there any football activity or club on this archipelago ? The capital, Isabela, has a population of approx 8000 AFAIK, so would make a big enough population for at least one club. Probably the travel distances to mainland Ecuador form a problem, though a local amateur league may have been set-up ?

Wrong!
Puerto Baqurizo Moreno is the capital and its on San Cristobal. There is footy here but we just play with our own division. which is VERY amateur..it's very regional and just in San Cristobal and Santa Cruz, not Isabela. There are roughly 27,000 people in the Galapagos as a whole!

I don't know if it's still true, but there used to be a strict control in the amount of people allowed to the islands every year. So I don't think it would be very popular to go play a game in San Cristobal or Santa Cruz when the only people that could go to the stadium are islanders.
As a matter of fact, the only people that can get into the islands for free are the locals. People from the continent have to pay a fee... and you are are a foreigner, multiply that fee by 10, if not more.

I must add... taking professional soccer to the Galapago's would be ruining paradise.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT RIGHT!!! Money that woulod be invested in a team can easily go into so many other programs aimed at conservation as well as education.

Regarding the entrance fees, Locals pay nothing to get in, Ecuadorians pay $6 and foreigners pay $100...but I doubt you'd get foreigners there just for a match of the Ecuadorian league. You dont see that many on the mainland to begin with...just Irish chicks...LOL ;)

Wow, prices haven't changed at all in the past 10 years! I better go check if I can findmy ecuadorian ID, so I can still pay $6 and not $100.

Anyway, even for Ecuadorians, a flight to Galapagos is what, $150? Considering the minimum wage, I still doubt that anyone would go to the games. And don't even think about building a stadium!
