DC United 2 :: 0 New England Revolution

We win!

From the pre match thread (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5243304&postcount=1)

I rarely make predictions in these threads. But after this last game I can't help but think we're gonna win this one. New England, about that last remaining zero on your record, I think it's gonna be a one come Saturday night.
I should make predictions more often. ;)

Nice to see the pitching keep Dempsey hitless :)

Nice win!

Get well Alecko. Ten days until the next match.

That was awesome. I can't think of any DCU player that had a bad game (though Moreno should have had a hat-trick). One more knock like that and Esky's gonna need the Make-A-Wish Foundation in order to get on the field again. That looked nasty. Get well soon, Alecko.

Considering NE's first win against us came as a result of Twellman's thuggery, overrated seems pretty accurate. They may beat up on the rest of the league, but DC certainly plays them close.

IDK but I had a feeling we would win tonight. 2nd half wasnt too hot but a win is a win and the first 30 minutes was awasome. I guess were in 4th now. All I have to say about this is :D

And this was a great win tonight. DC outmatched, outhustled, and outplayed NE. No complaints about the effort put in tonight, especially after playing three games in less than a week.

Our passing was extremely crisp in the first half, our tackling was extremely crisp in the 2nd.

I absolutley hate that chant. If they are overrated then it takes away from our win. It is essentially saying that oh we beat them they cant be that good. I mean if we can beat them then they must be overrated. Stupid chant. But I guess its better than ******** you ref .

Great game. Glad these games are online. More thoughts later....

And yes, overrated. Its not even halfway through the season yet, and people are all ready crowning the Rev as champs. Where was Dempsey's golden boot tonite? Ralston diving in the box? Please. Ya gotta earn it.

Agreed. We put the wood to a very good team. You don't have a streak like the Revs had if you're "overrated." If they are, MLS must really, really, suck.

OVERRATED!!!! :p

That's ********ing right boys!

We embarrased them in the first half. Just made them look completely stupid. I absoultely loved it.

Anyone who says that "2002 Jaime" is back needs to be smacked around. He was just everywhere that first half, everywhere. Just shook down the ENTIRE Revolution defense. O-********ing-le.

John Wilson was another first half star. Such great energy and clean tackling. Thank you so so much, Rochester. Anyone know why he was taken off early? Did he pick up a knock?

Poor, poor Esky. That kid has zero luck this year. Hope he's good to go in 10 days.

Nick must be channeling Kasey Keller. Career game.

Fantastic game all around. Let's keep it up eh? I hear Texas is beautiful in November. :D

Anyone see Boswell comandeer the Barra flags?

Bozilla's the f-ing man and Dempsey still swings like a que..........erm......girl. :D

EDIT: Watching Tony Limazari (DCU radio guy) aka Tony Crackhead on the Post game show. Aren't addicts supposed to be really skinny?

Hark the herald Eagles sing!
Glory to the Goal-score-ing!
Kill your beers and let's go wild,
ball and net are reconciled!
Come on down and bring a guest,
join the triumph of the Nest!

Boy was that nice. We took the undefeated conference leaders out back of the woodshed!

Moreno with a probable goal of the week, then flubs two one on ones with the keeper!

Santino had "that vision thing" going in the first half!

Nicky with a couple very solid saves to preserve the shutout and keep our nerves calm.

Only dark spot, John Wilson coming out for Stokes. This isn't a Stokes knock, but I thought Wilson was killing Noonan in the first half. Hope he's not injured!

Noonan was absolutely owned by Wilson, and Stokes came in and did a nice job. Overall, very happy with the win.

Get better quick Alecko!

Some comments from the postgame show....

Nowak told Moreno at halftime that a player of his caliber needs to finish those chances.

Gomez had a slightly twisted knee at practice yesterday, which is why he played even less time than usual.

It seems Wilson came out also because of fitness issues - they felt he couldn't go another full half after having played Wednesday. This comment was more speculation (not straight from Nowak's mouth), but at least no one said anything about an injury.

Ha! I told my GF that after hearing him on the radio I pictured him as being a major pencil-neck. I kept saying "nahhhhh, that cant be the guy I'm thinking of."
