ESC Road Trip to New England
Lalas Interview, from Metrofanatic.com

1. Alexi Lalas and the New, New Tradition

First and foremost, as you’ve all heard by now we have a new President and General Manager of the Metrostars, Alexi Lalas.

The ESC had a chance to meet with the new GM on Wednesday, and we thoroughly enjoyed the two plus hours we got to spend talking and listening to him, hearing his opinions on Metro. He was very direct, and spoke his mind regarding the past, present and future of our team. It is clear that he wants to win, and wants our team to compete at the highest possible levels. For the ESC, this can only be a good thing. We embrace AEG’s pledge to devote the resources necessary to make our team the best in league, and pledge to be a positive force in those efforts.

In the coming weeks, we will have more opportunities to meet with the GM and with you, our members. It is important that we embrace this change as a chance to write a new future for both our soccer team and our supporters club. In the past, we’ve been a large and loud club that has shown passionate support for our team. We must not only get back to large numbers, but we must set the goals higher. With the number of fans in this area, there is no reason why we can’t be the largest and loudest fan club in MLS, and do that our way. Alexi has said that he understands soccer isn’t just about kids, but also about hard core fans. He has a lot of work to do, as do we.

We look forward to seeing you out at the park.

2. Metro v. Crew – Saturday June 18- Note New Tailgate Location!!!

Speaking of seeing you out at the park, we have a big game coming up on Saturday. Due to the state fair being in town (they are setting up already), we will not be able to tailgate in lot 16A as we usually do. We will be parking in lot 18C. A bit out of the way, but hopefully we’ll all be able to find a spot together.

3. ESC Bus Trip to New England- Saturday, June 25th

*****SPACE IS LIMITED***** Book & pay early to reserve a seat.

To reserve a seat, send an e-mail to empiresc@verizon.net. You can also sign up and pay at the next home game (above).

We are running a bus trip to New England for the June 25th Metro vs. New England Match.

The Revs are in first place and have yet to lose. Metro are moving up the table and have been killers on the road. We tied them 2-2 in a home game in May that we should have won. It’s the return match, and we’re looking to take 3 points in their house.

The bus trips are always a good time, and we can hang out, sing, drink & tailgate, etc. The bus will have a restroom and tv/vcr combo. You are welcome to bring anything you want on the bus with you to eat/drink/etc. Just remember to take it with you when you leave.
