What's with the disrespect towards the United that I see on this board? Im stunned at how many people (outside of the people who post on this topic) seem to hate the United. What gives?

there is no the in United. It is just united. or dc united, to sperate us from the red devils.

people hate us because we always correct them on this and other insignificant pet peeves. like we are better than them. they think "who do they think they are?" then they realize that we have won twice as many cups than any other team. then they either a get sad and cry or get angry and hate us. our response is to remind them of our four stars and ask exactly how many they have. becoming even more hated in the process. and that in a nutshell is why people hate United.

Forgive me for calling them 'the United'. I am stuck out here in Chicago for school, and I dont get to go back to NoVa that much. As a result, I am forced to watch more Chicago Fire games than I care to (Not because theyre boring; theyre quite fun, but I'd rather see my hometown team.) I miss watching the 4 time MLS champions. Ah well, I will be home soon.

Here you go:

Divas USA: 2-0.
Gals: 1996, 1999, In case you don't remember, we'll tell you one more time That and after a tough LA loss in 2003, Hartmann had to make the Walk of Shame across the field. As he neared the locker room entrance, a roll of toilet paper streamed out La Norte like a graceful swan against the black DC sky and landed right on his face. He's never been the same since.
SanHoser: Well.. we have fans that care. And they don't even have Landon anymore.

(Aside, why are all the California teams women? Maybe there is truth in stereotypes).

Dallas: Dema's clean tackle of Ronnie O'Brien. Brandon Prideaux hanging in there after gamely receiving two yellow cards. Taking thier #1 draft pick and making fun of El Jefe's Stetson.
ReAl SaLt LaKe: For outlawing polygamy.
Colorado: 1997. 'Nuff said.

Columbus: How many times have we ended their season? That and gifting them a 1-0 victory early in the season to save Andrulis' job.
Chicago: Well... last night is a good start. Plus we took their best coach and they ended up with one of our castoffs.
KC: The curse of Andy Mead. That and last season's final, with Esky's perfect chest trap and goal.
Metro: Metro Playoff Failure and If I had a rocket launcher. Last season as they came in for their last ritual beating, we were harassing them as their bus pulled in. One player whined to another: We're not even off the bus yet! We won the match right there.
New England: We've got a rookie that can make PKs (well, for his club anyway).

So there you have it: Why they hate us.

Well, I have to say that I hated United during my days with the Mutiny - mostly because United beat us in 96 then went on to win the Cup. It was just that plain and simple. Since then, however, I've 'seen the light' so to speak, and I now am a true United fan. :D

Of course, it's easier to turn to the good side when your team ceases to be.

You can add this reason to most of the teams in the league.
