Did Dundee Utd not beat an Andorran team 17-0 one year?
Anyway, I think that Celtic could struggle if they don't get an easy tie. They'll be new players with not too much time to gel, especially in defence.

Has nobody mentioned the fact that both Celtic and Liverpool would be seeded therefore cannot meet? :)

Actually, Liverpool, will NOT be seeded for the qualifying rounds. Hence why they CAN meet.

Damnit. This Liverpool team is going to be good, but maybe fatigue will catch up.

Are you sure about that? In that case, they couldn't meet Everton, who're unseeded as well. I think Liverpool will be seeded, although I may be wrong.

I'm fairly certain that they wouldn't be allowed to be seeded because of the way in which they entered the tournament.

My mistake, they are actually seeded. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/4613695.stm)
So this is what it feels like to be wrong :D

They are seeded but have no country affiliation so can play Everton (or Chelsea in the group stages).

well i think it would be a travesty for celtic.
come on now, we all remember the last meeting between the two clubs went celtics way but you have to remember that celtics team has dipped in class ten fold whereas liverpool have done tremendously well since then and look to be building and adding to an already good squad.
i'd prefer mechelen or the like for an easier route.
we've got it hard enough already with the traumatic signings coming into parkhead, good luck to pool though, lets hope they keep the linchpin which is gerard

Unfortunately, after today's result in the first qualifying round (Kairat Almaty 2 - Artmedia 0), Celtic may have to travel almost to ********ing China for their first CL match. :(
Who were the geniuses that considered Kazakhstan part of Europe?

It's due to the former existence of the USSR. Kazakhstan is an Asian country, but due to political circumstances is affiliated with UEFA. Fun times :D

Fun times, indeed. An 8,000-mile trip in a club competition just doesn't seem fair. However, Almaty will probably lose 6-0 in Slovakia and this discussion will be pointless.

I imagine the Slovakians will still go through.

UEFA will pretty much take any country that applies for membership on the basis that the more members, the more clout it has worldwide.
