AEG plans for MLS from sports illustrated article

"Leiweke told the paper that he would be presenting a 12-point plan at the MLS Board of Governors meeting, held last week at the mysterious Xanadu of Anschutz's ranch in the Colorado foothills. The plan includes:

• Spending a lot more money in an effort to attract international soccer stars like Beckham to MLS.

• Expanding MLS rosters.

• Forming relationships with top European clubs to allow cross-marketing and potential loans of players to MLS teams.

• More local control of marketing and advertising in MLS.

It's certainly an audacious plan, and one that becomes more serious considering Leiweke is the public voice of the media-shy Anschutz, easily the most powerful and wealthy investor in MLS.

"We're not going to rest until the league and the sport are top two [in America]," Leiweke told the Times.
