Is anyone else worried about the fact that Stevie is going to be playing a shitload of games from next month till wc06. I fear
( Please God do not let it happen) That he may get injured again in the runup and it will be another world cup without the man. Just wondering if anyone else is worried by this.

No, 6 more games wont kill him, and when you think that Liverpool could probably send there U15 team out in the first qualifying rd and still win, i wouldnt worry to much, expect Liverpool to treat the League Cup and FA Cup extra lightly this year.

Plus with a whole month of rest before the finals he will be firing on all cylinders in no time!

He will up playing non stop unless he is given a break at some point .He missed the last world cup when he pulled out of the squad on the very last day of the season in 2002. That meant we had to go with nicky butt in japan .

Who cares? As long as he's available for Liverpool more often than not.

not particularly worried, as if he does get injured then sven wont be able to play the calamitous central midfield pairing of lampard and gerrard.

i'd prefer gerrard+ a.n.other to lampard+ a.n.other but i'd prefer either to gerrard+lampard. amazing pairing on paper, average in reality.

Are you sure  I think you are being overly critical there were certinaly much bigger underperformers than them two in that game. Gerrard was infact one of the best players on the pitch.

against the azers lampard particularly, but also gerrard, spent a majority of the game camped on the edge of the azerbaijan box, contributing basically nothing to the game. rio ferdinand was basically playing in midfield half the time to try to plug the gap.

whether this was a deliberate tactic or not, i have no idea, but it was crap.

That's always likely to happen against a team like the Azeris they played so deep are players were always going to push up.

Who cares - he's far from indispensable!

And if Liverpoo buy half the players they're talking about, Rafa will be playing the rotating squad system next year, which will probably even out the number of games played.

maybe so, but anyone sensible playing against a team who were defending with 10 men would attempt to stretch the play across the midfield and try to draw the defenders out, rather than just standing up the pitch waiting for the ball to come near them whilst being marked by 4 men each.

If they were being marked by 4 people each it would of been the perfect tactic ;) . You were never going to draw those players out they had just been thumped by the Poles. Anyway it could off been a criket score if Owen had converted his chances. The biggest problem with our midefield is Beckham's lack of discipline imo.
