I have learned how to do the bicycle kick after practicing in the backyard, but there is one problem. I don't know how to make the ball go straight into the net. It always goes up and into the net as a lob. I think it has to do with how I position my foot, but what do y'all think?

heres another problem: you hardly get a chance in a game. I did play in a game where a player from each team tried one. My team's was just a foot over but the other teams went straight up.

I geuss keep practicing

I am very good at over head kicks, whenever I have scored a goal with one (which was like 3 times) I got lucky and lobbed it over the keeper, the other two times I took my right foot and hit the ball over my left shoulder. It's pretty comfortable and doesn't require a lot of training and what-not.

I've always been afraid to do a bicycle kick, I think I'll land too hard on my back and end my athletic career :p .

If you keep kicking the ball straight up it means your foot is meeting the ball too early. When you lob the ball in the air to yourself (or flick it up, however you do it) you want the ball to drop in line with your head as opposed to back toward your knee. Make sense? You need to get your kicking foot over the ball more and drive it down. Search the internet for the clip of Marco Van Basten's bicycle kick. Watch it repeatedly.

I'll try it when my knee, and ankle are healed. I landed on my side after trying one and landing on my side. My knees smashed together hard, and I twisted my ankle.

I usually kick with whole power in the point with middle part of the foot. It gaves strong shot but sometimes away from target
