Paddy gets 2 games for allegedly swearing at a ref, Keane gets 5 for trying to break someone's leg. The FA is ******************ed, plain and simple.

I've made a point of watching for "abusive and insulting language" during the games after Viera got in trouble for it. I've seen just about every player in the EPL curse a blue streak over fouls. But unless your name happens to be Viera, Keane, Smith, etc... you'll never get in trouble for it. Same old FA BS! Wankers!

The fine is £25,000 ($37,500) U.S. ($52,000) CAN.
The games he misses are against Spurs (home) and Southampton (away).
The club is considering an "appeal". This will hopefully delay the ban for those games. "Watch this Space".

The FA are a joke. It's a simple as that. Roy Keane admitted to intentionally injuring a fellow player, and is banned for only 3 more matches than Viera? Keane is scum and should be banned by FIFA for life.

The really bad news is that an appealing could damage us even more. Right now he's slated to miss matches v sp*rs and saints, but if we lose the apeal he'll most likely miss the trip to manure instead.

I think it was on the Capital radio station who said that Vieira only told the referee 'you have no personality', so he didn't even swear.

He was found "Not Guilty" of using absuive language, (i.e. Not Swearing), which makes the fine and ban even more appalling and rediculous.

Arsenal have decided not to appeal which means that PV will miss the next 2 games (Blackburn and Fulham). IMO a good move.

Agreed. It's making the best of a bad situation.

Henry said they were "tired", so they might as well give him a rest at the same time.

Indeed, better he miss those two seemingly straightforward games than something perhaps more important.
And he'll get to rest his weary legs.

Are you sure he'll miss the Blackburn and Fulham games? FA bans usually kick in after 14 days, I'd say Sperz and Southampton is more likely.

The reports I've read and TV coverage I've seen say "Spurs and Saints".

Alan Smith MIGHT be a good player, but I have never seen a more constitently dirty and foul mouth player in the Premiership in the short 2 yrs that I have been watching. He is saying the F word just about everytime he is shown close up, especially to the Ref. What gives? Maybe they don't want to upset a new English star on the rise or give Leeds a chance to make the Premiership more competitve...Who knows??? I know what Keane did was crap, but until I saw that play I never saw him play dirty in the last few yrs. Viera definately doesn't seem like the dirty type...he is very laid back and maybe is large size intimidates smaller players.

LOL sorry guys, but I've just noticed something.
Both revelation, arsenalfan and now Patrick1234 all have something in common - they missed out 'i' in Vieira as in Viera! Thought I'd tell you guys off on behalf of him :p It's a bit like my surname when people tend to spell it with the more common 'e' version, instead of using the letter 'i'.
I remember I went to the Stadium of Light tour a few years ago and I noticed Peter Reid had the same spelling mistake. He left his match plan in his players' dressing room and I've noticed he spelt it as Viera as well! I took a photo of it, so I've still got a copy of it somewhere. I went on the tour a few days after the Arsenal game at Sunderland, so it was still there.

"Goonerette": Don't worry. The Americans are missing out a lot of letters in other words too!! (Thank God for the Canadian Arsenal supporters!!) (LOL).
Vier"I"a misses the next two games. i.e. Blackburn & Fulham. He didn't play today. (My God we missed him!).

michaec - Bans start 14 days in order to allow the clubs time to appeal. If the club appeals then the ban starts after the whole appeal process. In this case Arsenal deceided not to appeal which allows the ban to start immediately.
Goonerette - I just learned the proper spelling of VieIra myself.

I think this has something to do with FIFA's new directive that bans should start immediately in the next game after the imposition of the ban. The FA are currently ignoring this rule where clubs want to appeal much to the annoyance of FIFA.

Jeff..if it weren't for the "bad" spelling Americans(money, equipment, and troops), you would be speaking German right now...LOL. (just kidding!)
No one commented on Alan Smith and his filthy mouth and attitude. He is the Bill Laimbeer of the Premiership. You love to have him on your side but hate to play against him.

No, this has nothing to do with FIFA's new ruling. We did the same thing last year with one of our players (Henry I think).
